Found December 21, 2012 on Celtics Life:
In an effort to shake things up after a 3 game losing streak, Doc Rivers decided to start Jason Collins at center on Wednesday night.  It looks like Collins is going to get the nod again tonight.  While I understand Doc's desire to try something new, he can't really be serious about this as a long term plan.  Jason Collins is not a very good NBA basketball player.  There's a reason he's only averaged 12.6 minutes per game over the last 5 years.  In the best season of his career (2004-05 with the Nets) he managed to get on the floor for 31.8 minutes a night.  But even then he only averaged 6.4 points and 6.1 rebounds per game.   Looking to find a compliment for Collins after Wednesday's victory, Doc was able to say "He just clogged the middle up."  Paul Pierce had similar praise, adding "He really fills up the lane."  Seriously?  That's what we're supposed to be happy with?  Collins' stats consisted of 23 minutes, 2 rebounds, a st...

Your Morning Dump… Where Jason Collins had an amazing impact last night

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. “Jason Collins, for getting one point and two rebounds, had an amazing impact on the game for us,” said Celtics coach Doc Rivers. His ability to defend the post and draw charges not only provided a much-needed...

Celtics win a game they should, beat Cavs 103-91

In an effort to give me an aneurysm, Doc Rivers decided to shuffle his starting lineup tonight to include the JET and Jason Collins. There was some speculation that Collins was garnering the start to try and slow down Anderson Varejao, but Varejao was held out of tonight’s game at the last minute so I proceeded to have a full-blown conniption at that point. But the Celtics beat...

Jason Collins Emerges As Celtics' Starting Center

Jason Collins earned praise from Doc Rivers and Kevin Garnett after his first start.

Fab Melo goes OFF with Maine Red Claws - posts triple double with 14 blocks

Um, wow. Fab Melo has just tied the league record for blocks in a game w/11. He also has the 3rd triple-double in Red Claws history... — Maine Red Claws (@maineredclaws) December 23, 2012 Melo finished with 15 points, 16 rebounds and 14 blocks. 14! I mean I know it's the NBDL, but Jesus that's impressive. Considering the C's are starting Jason Collins at center in...

Celtics struggle late, fall to the Bucks 99-94

The Celtics suffered the first loss of the Jason Collins era, dropping the season series to the Milwaukee Bucks 3-1 for the first time since the ’05-’06 season. Tonight’s overtime loss was pretty disheartening for those who felt a bit optimistic after the Cavs game, and while it sucks to lose an overtime game, the C’s really didn’t deserve to be in this one. Bullet points...

Doc Rivers: “Every night there are one or two guys who don’t do their jobs”

The Celtics don’t quite have it right yet, and Doc Rivers is will be the first person to tell you that (via WEEI)“I understand the changes we made. We made a lot of them,” said Rivers, whose team is coming off a 103-91 win over Cleveland Wednesday night. “One of our key guys has not played yet, but Avery [Bradley] is not Bill Russell. With that, plus with all the different...

The Best of Tommy

The Celtics were at home last night and that means that Tommy was tweeting live throughout the game again. He was definitely on his game last night and at times was even more entertaining than the game. I sure do miss him when the C's are on national TV and I'm stuck with the other guys. Tommy should be declared a National Treasure. Here's the best of Tommy from last...

Sunday practice report: Wilcox out for 1 month

Doc Rivers gave Chris Forsberg & the rest of the media the bad news at today’s practice in Waltham: Wilcox hurt the thumb in Tuesday’s game vs the Bulls. It’s being called an “ulnar collateral sprain” of his right thumb. Doc says he’s been told Wilcox should be out somewhere from 3 to 4 weeks. Obviously this is not good for a team that is already struggling with...

Green Envy: What Cavaliers fans said - 12/19

Not a ton of comments from Cavaliers fans around the net, and as a result, I'm leaving out the usual superlatives. All you get is the full slate. Enjoy them after a nice win by the Celtics and an amazing performance by Paul Pierce. Full Slate: What do you know another back to back game. I predict they'll play a solid game-may not win, but make it close. Varejao out. ...

Jeff Green Bruises Cheek and Chips Teeth in Loss

Photo by AP Besides the troubling overtime defeat against the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday night, Doc Rivers’ team felt their hearts stop when Jeff Green fell to the Red Auerbach Parquet Floor holding his face. Luckily for the green team, it isn’t as major as it looked. Green suffered a hit to the face from the elbow of Milwaukee’s Ersan Ilyasova at the 27-second mark in overtime...

Wilcox happy for team despite DNP; Green possibly not as much

Doc Rivers has changed his rotations this week. Two players impacted have been Chris Wilcox and Jeff Green. Wilcox registered a DNP last night as Doc gave Jason Collins the starting center role. Doc seems to have listened to me and has started using Green almost exclusively as the backup small forward the past two games. For one reason or another Green can not defend 4's and...

Boston Celtics Chris Wilcox Out 3-4 Weeks With Thumb Injury

Thumb Injury Could Sideline Boston Celtics’ Chris Wilcox   ESPN Boston’s Chris Forsberg tweeted that Doc Rivers said the Boston Celtics are expected to announced that Chris Wilcox will be sidelined with a thumb injury that could keep him out three to four weeks. Forsberg also tweeted that it is a ulnar collateral sprain, and [...]

Chris Wilcox Out 3-4 Weeks With Thumb Sprain

Boston Celtics forward/center Chris Wilcox will miss nearly a month with an ulnar collateral sprain in his right thumb, according to coach Doc Rivers. Wilcox injured the thumb on Tuesday in Chicago and has sat out the last two games, though Rivers had admitted he was going to lean on other bigs given Wilcox’s recent defensive struggles. Now the injury will keep him on the shelf...
