Found October 19, 2012 on NESN.com:
The NBA's new 90-second pregame handshake limit should save time, but Celtics coach Doc Rivers has some concerns about the new rule. Kevin Durant already expressed his displeasure, and it stems from the length of his pregame ritual, but Rivers thinks the rule could actually be hurting the coaches. "I think they forgot that the coach actually has to draw up a play before the opening [tip]," Rivers said, according to CSNNE.com. "You usually do that. … I like why we're doing it. I just think we need to rethink the time. Ninety seconds is not enough. We probably need 30 more seconds or a minute." The new rule being enforced by the NBA says that players will now have 90 seconds from the time pregame introductions end to return to the court and be ready for the game's opening tip. Rivers even understands where the players are coming from in their concerns, which is understandable when you consider Kevin Garnett's usual ritual before...

Courtney Lee Just Getting His Legs Under Him

We all expect Courtney Lee to be a big part of the team's success this season. So far, in the preseason, his shoot has been short much of the time as he has hit just 4 of 15 shots from beyond the arc. For a player who has shot almost 40% from beyond the arc over his career, his inability to hit from deep this season so far has been a bit puzzling. But the Herald posted a...

Photo Gallery: Celtics vs Nets

Celtics fans finally got to see some great hoops last night as the C’s outlasted the Nets 115-85 in Brooklyn. One of the hot topics on Twitter was Jeff Green’s choice of kicks. He wore the Volt/Gorge Green Nike Hyperfuse 2012 seen in Jose3030′s pic above. If so inclined, you can cop a pair now on Eastbay. Enjoy some pics & GIFs from the game courtesy of Hoop China &...

Jeff Green and Jason Terry Lead the Boston Celtics to a 109 – 98 Preseason Win Over the New York Knicks

Jeff Green and Jason Terry Lead the Celtics’ rally from a 20-point deficit to a 109 – 98 Preseason Win Over the New York Knicks. If Jeff Green can keep up his efficient scoring pace, he might not have to ask James Worthy for permission to use his nickname. Too soon? Probably, but as the [...]

Your Morning Dump… Why Jared Sullinger deserves to be a starter

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. And yet, through six preseason games, Sullinger has stood out both for his on-court play — 11 points, 7 rebounds, 56 percent shooting in 25 minutes — and for his demeanor. His notoriously hard to impress veteran...

It's a Fast Break!

What I have enjoyed the most this preseason is watching the Celtics fast breaks. For the first time, Rondo has multiple options on the break instead of getting the ball up court quickly and then having to dribble around while he waits for the rest of the team to get in place. The play above has Paul Pierce running ahead and getting the hoop. More than likely, he won't be...

How Danny Ainge Won The Off-Season

The Celtics did not play a single game from June 9th when they came up a quarter short against the Heat in Game 7, until they traveled to Europe last week, but make no mistake, Danny Ainge won the off-season. Let’s flashback to late February for a moment, the C’s were floundering a few games below .500 and the trade deadline was quickly approaching. The Green looked old, slow...

Celtics Live Blog: Jason Terry, C's Head to Upstate New York to Take On Knicks

10 a.m. ET: The end of the exhibition schedule is achingly close for the Celtics now. In nine days they will be introduced in Miami for the open of their regular season. Before the C's can hit South Beach, though, they have a few more preseason dates to get through. One of those is sunny Albany, N.Y., which they visit Saturday to take on the Knicks. The last meeting between...

Celtics vs. Knicks Preview

The Boston Celtics (2-4) “host” the New York Knicks (2-1) at 7:30 pm tonight at the Times Union Center in Albany, NY.  The game will be broadcast on CSNNE and WEEI.  Despite being played in the state of New York, on the schedule it’s listed as a home game for the Celtics.  Exactly one [...]

Celtics Believe In Concept Of Playing Without Backup Point Guard

The Celtics don't have a backup point guard and the signing of Leandro Barbosa continues to reveal how the team is confident that the strategy will work.

On Ray Allen, Rajon Rondo and the way the media shapes our understanding of professional athletes

This story isn’t meant to be primarily about Ray Allen, though he will stand as the prominent example in an inner debate I’m having with regards to a media phenomenon. My theory: Our views of athletes are distorted by the amount of time (and amount of friendliness with which) they speak to the media. Because Allen spent 15 minutes before every game holding court with reporters...

A Few of the Guys React to Their ESPN Mag Ranking

Earlier today ESPN the Mag released their opinion of where teams rank in the East and West, http://www.celticslife.com/2012/10/espn-mag-ranks-cs-4th-in-east.html. Many of you found it quite funny and some, not so funny. I myself try to find the humor in just about everything in life, so I decided to give my take on how some of the guys might react to their place in the rankings....

Celtics Live Blog: Rajon Rondo, C's Make First Visit to Brooklyn to Take on Nets

9 a.m. ET: Paul Pierce could not have looked much sharper than he did Tuesday, when the Celtics forward scored 29 points in a one-point loss to the Nets. Those same Nets host Pierce and the Celtics on Thursday at the newly minted Barclays Center. This is the sixth of eight preseason games for the Celtics, who are still a long way from knowing exactly what starting lineup and rotation...

Doc Not a Fan of the New 90 Second Rule

We wrote about David Stern's new rule limiting teams to 90 seconds between intros and the tip off. Failure to be on the court in those 90 seconds results in a delay of game. Kevin Durant weighed in on the rule from a player's point of view. He doesn't like it because the Thunder has a ritual that they go through that the fans there love. Now, Doc Rivers gives his...
