Micah Downs was one of the final cuts to the Celtics training camp roster. He showed some flashes of talent in his time with the Celtics but in the end, it was a numbers thing and there wasn't room for him on the roster. The Red Claws have announced that Downs is one of 8 players invited to their training camp. The other players include 7 footer and Harvard product Brian Cusworth, forward Chris Wright, and guards Xavier Silas, Chamberlain Oguchi, Farnold Degand, DaQuan Brooks and Raheem Singleton. This year, the Celtics will be the only affiliate of the Red Claws and will be responsible for their operation. This will be ideal for developing the rookies as the Celtics can now run their own system and the players will learn the same plays and defense that they will need on the parent club. Also the Celtics can now send players to the Red Claws and call them back as many times as they want to and are no longer limited to just 3 times as they were in the past. In Other D-League News Celtics former first round pick JaJuan Johnson, who was waived by the Rockets, has entered the D-League draft and is expected to be the number one pick by the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.
