Now, he is still a project, but Fab Melo is doing his best to showcase that the answer to the big-man problems might be right under the Celtics’ collective noses.  He put up another huge game to follow his attention getting triple-double, and Fabricio has kept us gawking with a 32-9-9 performance. From watching the video above (which is the full game of Fab and the Maine Red Claws against the Idaho Stampede), you can see his offensive game is a lot more fine tuned than we experienced in summer-league and the preseason, and his defensive rotations are happening sooner– hence averaging 11.5 blocks over the last two games (!!!).Jarvis Varnado was recently brought up in attempts to give the Celtics some rim-protection (he led the D-league with 3.9 bpg while he was there) and rebounding.  I guess you could call his garbage-time minutes on Christmas ‘active,’ but in reality it remains to be seen how he will fit in with Boston.Perhaps Fab Melo’s progress is happening way faster than the Celtics and Red Claws’ coaching staff’s believed.  A good problem for the Celtics to have, as he clearly fills the Celtic’s biggest roster hole.(Editor’s note: In case you don’t have time to watch Melo’s game, Jay wrote an obscenely long running diary of Melo’s performance at MassLive.)
