Found January 03, 2012 on Project Spurs:
Does everyone know where former San Antonio Spurs guard Michael Finley finished out his NBA career? The answer is the Boston Celtics. If you didn’t know that, I don’t blame you.

After Finley left the Spurs, he kind of faded into obscurity, trying to contribute what he could to a Celtics team that lost in the Finals to the L.A. Lakers. He never really was at 100% and didn’t get much playing time, but now he says he’s ready to come back to basketball. Finley sent a tweet to HoopsHype last week that said: “U left me off the free agency list #notdoneyet” I can understand feeling a little left out. Once you retire from the game, people don’t care as much about what you’re doing, so Finley wants a little piece of fame back. Well he can get the rumor mill going all he wants, I can’t see an NBA team taking a chance on him. He hasn’t ruled out playing overseas or in the D-league, which is a much more believable option, but I really doubt he could get himself into NBA shape right now. “I got offers from the D-League before (Ricky Davis or Greg Ostertag) ever thought about playing in the D-League,” Finley said. “My thing is, I want to play basketball, I would enjoy playing in the D-League, but at the same time I don’t want to take an opportunity away from a young guy to get exposure. I’m still thinking about it. If the right situation comes, where I could be something like a player-coach, maybe I would take that opportunity.” I guess with all the injuries in the NBA, it wouldn’t be unheard of for Finley to get another chance. I hear Dallas is the new place for over-the-hill players to play, so maybe they’ll invite Finley. He’d fit in perfectly! All jokes aside, Finley’s time has come and gone. There are lots of other ways to play pro basketball, but the NBA is just a little out of reach.

Ray Allen wants to re-sign long term with the Boston Celtics

Ray Allen is in the final year of his deal. Then again, it has been well documented that just about everyone on the Celtics roster is in the final year of their deals. Allen will turn 37 years old this summer and while most superstars his age would have started to fizzle out three or four years ago, Ray has continued to build his case as the greatest shooter the sport has ever...

Wizards Celtics Monday

The Celtics were able to win one on the road Sunday against the Wizards, but both teams travel back to Boston to finish off the second part of a double header between the two squads. The Celtics looked like the much better team in their contest Sunday, as they rightfully should have, but the dreaded [...]

Celtics beat depleted Nets for 4th straight win

The Celtics shook off a lackluster first half blowing out the Nets 89-70 in Boston .  New Jersey was without  Brook Lopez and Deron Williams yet hung with the Celtics in the first half. Taking Stock: C's-Wizards home-and-home

After each game, we'll be taking stock in each players... and maybe coach's... performance.  If we like what we see, we're buyin'.  If we don't, we're sellin'.  Or maybe we'll just hold onto our stock until we see more next game Rajon Rondo: He's here so much I'm going to make him part of the template.  The triple-double in game 1 earns...

The beauty of a setting sun

The sun sets every evening, but only occasionally are the clouds splayed perfectly across the night sky to draw an array of yellow, orange and blue pastels and catch your attention so beautifully that a higher power suddenly seems like a greater possibility. Not one to watch sunsets routinely, I occasionally glance at the sky in the evening at the right time and wonder why I don’t...

Celtics improve to .500, beat Wizards for the second straight night

(Editor's note: My apologies for the lack of updates or recaps on Sunday and Monday. It was a holiday weekend. You understand, don't you? Don't you?) I'm dying to give the Celtics all of the credit in the world. I really am. I just can't bring myself to do it. It has nothing to do with what the Celtics have or haven't done over the last two nights. There...
