Found May 31, 2013 on Boston's Bettah:
Kevin Garnett is the domino that needs to fall for the Celtics plans to become clear It was difficult to write an eulogy at the end of the Boston Celtics’ season almost a month ago, mostly because it was completely unknown whether or not the Boston Celtics would actually be ending. There were always the reports as this disappointing season came to an end that the Celtics were contemplating certain trades, wondering whether or not they would buy out certain players, or maybe even keeping everything together and making one more year out of it. Last offseason, it certainly seemed like that was the plan because the majority of the Celtics’ core – Rondo, Garnett, Pierce – was signed through the end of next year, not this year. Things changed during this off-season. Despite all the changes mostly to bolster one of the leagues shallowest benches into a deep one, the Celtics failed to do such a thing. In addition, the Celtics had a plethora of injuries, highlighted by Rajon Rondo’s torn ACL in January. The Celtics had a couple of runs during the season, but when the Celtics finished seventh in the conference and went down three games to none against New York in the first round, it was becoming clear that something was not working. That series expedited the “The Celtics have to rebuild” stories that have populated the landscape over the past month. Reports from Celtics’ insiders and beat writers mentioning that both Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett believed they had played their last game for the Celtics certainly didn’t help matters. Either both were going to retire, bought out, or sent in a package trade to somewhere like Los Angeles. Then Jackie MacMullan happened and – bless her soul – she is hearing that Kevin Garnett wants to come back for another year. Why this is so important is because Kevin Garnett holds most if not all of the cards to the Celtics roster in 2013-2014. Now, it seems like the Boston Celtics really do want to go at it for one more year. Wait, sources say that the Boston Celtics are still likely to buy out Paul Pierce. Today sources are now saying that the Celtics are not even sure if Doc Rivers is coming back. At this point, I am not even sure if the Boston Celtics have a plan for the upcoming off-season. The only guarantee they have is that they promised some German kid that they would take him in the draft. That’s it. My heart and my head say two different things. My heart says that they should go at it one more time. They lost both Rondo and Jarred Sullinger to injuries and that decimated their front line. Find a sucker for some combination of Courtney Lee, Jason Terry or Brandon Bass (Utah and Millsap? Memphis and Tony Allen?), hope that Jeff Green and Avery Bradley make another leap and take another chance at it. That was the plan anyway. Even the most pessimistic Celtics fan I know, my buddy Sully, would probably be half for running it back one more time, if only because everyone loves Pierce and Garnett. My head says they should trade or buy out the core. Tank the next season and make a play for Andrew Wiggins in the draft. Could you imagine a healthy Rondo playing alongside Wiggins? That is certainly a core the Boston Celtics could build around. The most we know about the Celtics right now is that we are in the dark on their plans. Until the Garnett chip actually falls, Celtics fans just have to hope that whatever the management decides is the best decision for the future of the franchise.

Ainge: no decision made on Paul Pierce's future

Rumors have been flying and swirling around regarding Boston's intentions with long-time forward Paul Pierce. Many believe Boston will buy out the remaining year at $15.3 million because Pierce's contract is only guaranteed for $4 million for next season. If that were to happen, it would be an unfortunate way for Pierce's 15-year run in Boston to end -- especially after...

The Boston Celtics best option for next season may be year 7 of a 3 year plan

There are a million questions regarding the state of the Boston Celtics right now.  Doc Rivers is likely going to be the coach next year, but we’re not 100% sure.  Kevin Garnett might retire, and he says he doesn’t want to play there without Paul Pierce.  Pierce’s skills are no longer worth the $15+ million he’s due to be paid next season, but I don’t see the alternatives...

Doc Rivers Not Sure If He’ll Coach the Celtics Next Season

Doc has been saying the same thing for a couple of years, but in the end he usually comes back. “I don’t know that right now,” Rivers said on May 4. “I can’t make that decision now. I’m under contract and we’ll see. Honestly, I just can’t even think about that right now. So I don’t know.” The Celtics window has closed and they need to rebuild, we will see if Rivers...

Your Morning Dump… Where Danny has a much better idea of how to improve the roster?

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. They still don’t have definitive plans or answers from their Big Three — Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and coach Doc Rivers — but league sources are saying the C’s have a much better idea of what they will...

What the Hell Happened to...Rodney Rogers?

Sometimes I think back to that celebration on June 17, 2008.  The little green and gold and black confetti falling on the Garden floor.  I see an elated Kevin Garnett bellowing "Anything Is Possible."  I see an almost-childlike Ray Allen gleefully skipping across the parquet.  I see Glen Davis and Leon Powe and Paul Pierce huddled up yelling "Hoo-rah, Celtics,...

If you have watched any NBA games at all over the years you know that sideline reporter Craig Sager is the the most aggressively dressed man in the NBA. Poll: Which Miami Heat player do you hate the most?

Most Celtics fans hate the Miami Heat, some almost as much as they hate the Lakers. There are many good reasons why someone who bleeds green might feel disdain towards the Heat -- whether it be because they eliminated Boston in the 2011 and 2012 playoffs, the diva attitudes, the dirty play that dislocated Rajon Rondo's elbow, Ray Allen leaving for South Beach... the list is...
