In an interview with Joe Lacob done by Tim Kawakami Lacob was asked if Houston had made an offer for Biedrins. Here was Lacob’s answer:

Yes. Others have, too. I’d say a number of teams have expressed interest in Andris. However, we don’t feel compelled to necessarily deal him.

He is a guy that was a double-double guy in this league a few years ago. Obviously not playing to that level as of late.

I think Mark would love a chance to get to work with him. I think we’re going to work with him all summer, if we can…

Having said that, he has not performed to the level that he used to. If we got offered a great deal, like anybody else on the team, we’d have to consider it.”

My initial reaction to this answer was, huh? If the Warriors can get anything for Andris Biedrins then get rid of him! He has a huge contract and has turned into a headcase. I can’t believe the Warriors are going to try to salvage him. I don’t think they can expect a great deal for a guy who has underperformed and been injury prone the last couple of seasons. They should look to cut salary with the trade and be happy with that.

Don’t get me wrong, if they can fix him I would be ecstatic. I would love to see that double-double player comeback strong next season. However I will be super upset if he has another expensive flop of season when we could have traded him and cut some salary.

I sure hope the Warriors know what they are doing here.
