The news is still breaking across the major media outlets, but it’s believed that the NBA lockout (pending ratification from NBA players) is over and games will start on Christmas Day. It’s great news for all involved, but in true Busted Coverage fashion, we look out for all those who were affected by the greed on both sides of the table. We look out for the NBA dancers who were caught in the crossfire, especially Heat Dancer Nicole.

According to Fox:

”We want to play basketball,” Commissioner David Stern said.

Come Christmas Day, they should be.

The sides reached a tentative agreement early Saturday to end the 149-day lockout and hope to begin the delayed season with a marquee tripleheader Dec. 25. Most of a season that seemed in jeopardy of being lost entirely will be salvaged if both sides approve the handshake deal.

When we thought of the NBA lockout and its effect on NBA Dancers®, it’s our belief that a lost season would have been horrible for Miami Heat dancers. Think about it – these ladies have a short career span. The Heat have the Big 3 and these possibilities of winning multiple rings but the dancers might only have a 1-2 year career run.

jQuery(function($){$("a img.gallery-wall-fade").hover(function(){$(this).stop().animate({opacity:.5},{queue:false,duration:400});},function(){$(this).stop().animate({opacity:1},{queue:false,duration:400});});});

That’s the case with Nicole. She is set to begin her second season as a Heat Dancer. Last year ended in tears and no ring. It was believed that LeBron and crew would use ’12 as the year to put it all together and win a ring for the organization. Then the lockout happened and Nicole, a University of Florida grad, was left with the fear that her career could be cut a year short by greed.

Now we’re looking at a 66-game sprint to the NBA Playoffs and dance squads who can renew their dreams and aspirations.

Kudos to those ladies who endured. Times were bleak but you kept a level head and now have an NBA season to make a title run.
