Don't think they mean Darren Daye. The Ray Allen stories just won't stop coming. In an article from Fox Sports Florida, legendary Celtics players/broadcasters Tommy Heinsohn and Bob Cousy are quoted as saying the C's should retire Allen's #20. Both cited Ray's contributions to 2008 championship team as the key factor. I've got a feeling the average Boston fan is going to adamantly disagree with the two Celtic greats, at least for now. Maybe with some time and perspective people will come around. But what about all the other previous stars to suit up in #20 for the Celtics? Brian Shaw? Sherman Douglas? Gary Payton? Everbody's favorite Gonzaga Bulldog Dan Dickau? Follow Mark on twitter @LucidSportsFan

Breaking news: Ray Allen still hasn't moved on

Another day, another Ray Allen story. Sigh. This time Ray-Ray sat down and with Jackie Mac and dished about the deterioration of his relationships with both Doc and Rondo, among other Celtic related items. Some takeaways, with Allen's quotes from the article: - Allen is absolutely delusional when it comes to how much talent remains in his now 37 year old body. I don&...

Ray Trying to Convince Himself He Made the Right Choice

Ray Allen sounds like a guy that's trying really, really hard to convince himself that he made the right decision — MrTripleDouble10 (@MrTrpleDouble10) October 22, 2012 I know that the Ray Allen thing has been beaten to death on every Celtics blog and most Heat blogs as well. Ray Allen Says Celtics Used Him as 'Decoy,' Says He Didn't Get Respect From Team, Rajon Rondo

The cliche storyline of why people don't like the Miami Heat is that the Heat are a collection of big names that banded together to co-opt a championship at the expense of a true team. Ray Allen is helping that narrative pretty well. Allen, who was at first docile in his comments about why he left a Celtics team with which he won a title to be a bench player...

Ray Allen’s Ankle is Still Bothering Him

Still?

Afternoon Delight: Excuses, Excuses

So a story came out today on ESPN in which Ray Allen admitted that his ankles have not completely healed following surgery last June and that he may require treatment as the season goes forward.  "I still deal with soreness in my ankle that I work through every day," Allen revealed, with just a week to go before the Heat open the season against the C's.  Could be...

Doc Rivers Knows of Two, Possibly Three Heat Players Who Are 'A Lot Better Than Ray' Allen (Video)

WALTHAM, Mass. -- Doc Rivers and the Celtics have been busy all week preparing for the regular season, which begins Tuesday against the Miami Heat. The Heat are a familiar foe, and not only because the Celtics faced them seven times in last year's Eastern Conference Finals. The Heat also happen to employ a certain ex-Celtics guard who has kept the local...

Doc Rivers Fires Back At Ray Allen

First KG, then Doc, but with Doc, it was short and it was sweet. Here’s what Coach Rivers had to say when asked about his thoughts on Allen’s recent remarks: “I didn’t even know it, so I’m surprised right now…I never knew that, I don’t think (the rumor) is true. We’re just going to let Ray keep talking, it’s easier.” – Doc Rivers Ouch. Ray Allen recently went...

Doc: Enough Talk

Doc Rivers is done fighting the battle of words with Ray Allen. Chris Forsberg reports that the Celtics coach said, "'We're going to just let Ray keep talking... It's easier'" when interviewed earlier today. Doc is focused on creating a game plan to take down Miami, and I'm sure he just wants to get the distractions out of the way. Ray recently made...

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. Asked about the potential Phoenix deal, Rivers said on Wednesday, “I didn’t even know it, so I’m surprised right now. I never knew that. I don’t think that’s true.” When asked for a rebuttal on Wednesday...
