Pro Sports Daily:
Kelly Olynyk is going to really like the stern talking-to he is going to get from Brad Stevens.
Stevens the Celtics’ head coach had some unusual but accurate criticism for the rookie after Wednesday’s 101-97 preseason win over the Brooklyn Nets. Olynyk had a fine performance overall much better than his nine-point six-rebound stat line implied but Stevens had a minor bone to pick nonetheless.
Namely Stevens wanted to know why it took Olynyk until the 5:40 mark of the third quarter to crack the scoring column for the first time in the game.
“Kelly is still too passive shooting the ball” Stevens said. “That’s the one thing you can be critical about because it’s nice to be told to shoot more. So he needs to shoot it more for us there’s no question about it.” Aggressiveness at both ends of the floor is an issue for the Canadian big man. He loves to pass and he is very good at it but he also possesses a deadly jump shot from anywhere on the court. He took just three 3-pointers on W...

Yesterday Clint posted a few Celtics related items from the 12th annual GM poll, most of them not very good. However, there was one item of note that was inspiring for Celtics fans. In the poll of 30 GMs (the GMs couldn’t vote for their own team/personnel), the C’s were winners in the Draft when they acquired Kelly ‘Sunshine’ Olynyk from...
Head coach Brad Stevens is bringing a much different style of play to the Boston Celtics this year and as one would expect, it is a work in progress from how he handles the media to the plays he draws up in both practice and during game time.
Several players on the 2013-14 Celtics are experiencing growing pains with the style of pick-and-roll defense Stevens is aiming for. The...
It's literally days until the Boston Celtics open their 2013-2014 season, and head coach Brad Stevens looks ready to go. The collective expectations of pundits, fans, and neutrals are low. Yet at the same time, no one really knows how the new-look C's will present themselves. Will they be looking to compete in every game, or will they make trades and increase their chances...
To say that the basketball world was shocked on July 3rd, 2013 when Brad Stevens accepted the Boston Celtics offer to become their new head coach was an understatement. He had just recently signed a contract extension that would last through the 2021-2022 season, and he had turned down other high profile jobs in the ...The post Brad Stevens Will Be An Elite NBA Head Coach appeared...
The Celtics get a chance to dress up and show off their finery. They all look very nice but I vote Brad Stevens and his wife as the best dressed. I love that his green tie matches her dress. Nice touch.

Brandon Gaudin sat in the front seat of his car, which sat in the parking lot of a Michaels arts and crafts store, which sat in the sweltering heat of the Ft. Worth, Texas, summer. His air conditioning hummed while his emotions raced.
An email had just flashed across his phone. "STEVENS HIRED BY CELTICS" read the subject line.
In town visiting family, Gaudin, the radio...
Rondo loves to get behind the camera
The Celtics held a dual practice today before planning to take Saturday and Sunday off. They had what Coach Stevens described as a very physical and competitive practice followed by an open practice for season ticket holders. Between the two practices, Emily Austen caught up with Jared Sullinger for the 1 on 1 interview above.
It’s particularly early here in the Celtics’ on-the-fly rebuild, but the status of the program can be summed up by the two guys who sat at the podium for postgame press conferences on Wednesday evening — 37-year-old coach Brad Stevens and rehabbing point guard Rajon Rondo .
Stevens had just watched his team complete an eyesore of a preseason with a win over Brooklyn that brought...
The NBA is still LeBron James‘ league, and everyone else is just working in it.
The reigning Most Valuable Player and two-time champion was overwhelmingly picked to repeat both those feats this season in a survey of every NBA general manager. More than three-quarters of the GMs said Miami would three-peat, and nearly 70 percent said James would add a fifth MVP trophy to his mantel...
BOSTON – The Boston Celtics closed out the preseason with a 101-97 win over the Brooklyn Nets as Brad Stevens approaches his first regular season game an an NBA coach. Jared Weiss, Evans Clinchy and Jimmy Toscano broke down Rajon Rondo's comments on his rehab after the game and whether Phil Pressey and Vitor Faverani could start. The boys also handed out Baller of the Preseason...
I love Tommy Heinsohn. I love listening to him in games and I love reading his tweets. I know that fans from our opponents would rather eat glass than have to listen to Tommy and that makes me love him even more. Here are the best of Tommy's tweets from last night.
One thing Tommy always preaches is running. I think he's going to like these Celtics, especially...
The Celtics end the preseason with a 101-97 win over the Brooklyn Nets. The Nets sat out Pierce, D-Will, AK-47, Garnett, Johnson, and Lopez. Here's a brief summary on each individual quarter.
First Quarter: Celtics first quarter starters: Bradley, Wallace, Green, Olynyk, Faverani.
Alan Anderson came out scoring the Nets' first 5 points. The Celtics struggled early offensively...
Well, this was a nice way to end the preseason. Lots of positives to go around in spite of the Nets playing very shorthanded. It wasn't so long ago that the Celtics and Nets were in opposite places, how quickly things can change in the league. Hopefully in another year or two, they will once again swap places. I've highlighted my favorite comments in bold. Now...
For those of you who missed it, Gerald Wallace recently called out all his teammates on their effort. You can read Mike's full article here.
Many tweets today showed that Wallace's teammates, and well as his coach Brad Stevens, stand by what Gerald said and think it is sending the team in the right direction:
Stevens said he was comfortable with Green/Wallace speaking...
The Celtics finished their preseason with on a high note with a 101-97 win over the Brooklyn Nets at the Garden. Of course, we should temper our excitement with the fact that the Nets' top 6 players weren't playing in this one. But, there were some good things to take from the game in spite of the opposition.
The Celtics played as a team and showed a couple of nice...
