Danny Ainge says Jared Sullinger has a “disk” issue in his back that may or may not require surgery #celtics
— gary washburn (@GwashNBAGlobe) June 29, 2012
Literally didn’t take sixty minutes from the time I posted Jared Sullinger’s grade of a “B” for the Celtics to announce that Sullinger might require surgery.
I want a trade-back Oklahoma City and I want it now.

Ainge: 10 plans, 0 promises
The draft is a little more than 24 hours away, and the burning question remains… did Danny Ainge make a promise to Royce White?
His answer today: No.
“As a general rule I do not make promises,” Ainge said. “I have before, it’s been a while, and we did not make a promise, no. On draft day I’ll have 10 contingency plans and we’re exploring all the trade possibilities...

Doc Rivers opts to spend the NBA draft with his son and not the Celtics
For any team in any sport, the draft is the primary period where the public truly sees an organization’s brain-trust come together in one room to set the direction for the unit.

NBA Draft Promises Raise Dilemmas, Create Few Advantages for Team Executives
Danny Ainge would probably promise Anthony Davis that the Celtics would draft him with the 21st pick on Thursday, if Davis were on the board. Beyond that, Ainge is not going to put his word on the line when the future of the Celtics franchise, not to mention his own job, is on the line. "As a general rule, I do not make promises," said Ainge, the Celtics president of basketball...
Celtics Draft Pick Must Balance Need to Get Younger While Keeping Ability to Win Now
When Danny Ainge and the Celtics finally pull the trigger on making a draft pick during Thursday night's draft -- wherever that may be -- the team will be making a big step in a new direction. With the future of key pieces like Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen in doubt, the Celtics have to get younger. But they can't also sacrifice the willingness to compete now, before the team...

Boston Celtics select Jared Sullinger, Fab Melo
I absolutely love Jared Sullinger at the 21st pick, back problems be damned — almost as much as I loathe Fab “El Busto” Melo. I emailed a group of friends earlier this morning to say that if Melo becomes a productive pro, I’ll tattoo a profile of Kobe Bryant’s face on my chest and write a love letter to Rick Pitino. But Sullinger? He would have been a top 5 selection last...
Celtics Draft Picks Add Greater Evidence That Team Long Ago Began Process of Building Around Rajon Rondo
Most of what was said during and immediately following the NBA draft on Thursday was standard front office-speak. Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge and assistant general manager Ryan McDonough were surprised to get Jared Sullinger and Fab Melo with the 21st and 22nd picks. They had both players rated higher. They like both players' potential but are not counting...
Report: Garnett has promised decision by Saturday
They are only 48 hours apart, but July 1, not June 28, is the real D-Day for the Celtics. We face the possibility that two of the linchpins of the past five years, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen, will not be back. Hard as it might be to envision a Celtics team without either one, Ainge said recently that he can’t afford to be remotely sentimental in dealing with either player...
Report: Suns Serious Contenders to Pursue Ray Allen
Now that the NBA draft is out of the way, Danny Ainge and the Celtics can turn their attention to locking up their free-agent veterans. The C's could have some competition when it comes to Ray Allen, though, as the Phoenix Suns have surfaced as serious contenders to pursue the veteran guard, according to Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski. This report comes on the heels of...
