BOSTON — Jeff Green found the concept baffling. His good friend and former teammate, Kevin Durant, dropped 29 points against him, yet it was suggested that he and Paul Pierce had teamed up to make the Oklahoma City Thunder forward’s night miserable. “He still got 37 points,” Green said, before he was quickly told Durant’s actual scoring total. “Close to 30, whatever. We just tried to make every shot for him tough. He’s damn near 7-foot, but the handle that he’s got and the way he can shoot, it’s tough. You’ve just got to make every shot tough for him.” While Green downplayed his performance, his teammates and coach noted his contributions to the Celtics’ rousing 108-100 victory over his former team on Friday. Green had shown flashes of brilliance in the first 12 games of the season, but until the Thunder came to town he had yet to register a complete game in which he was consistent at both ends of the floor. In leading Boston’s bench with 17 points, Green provided the occasional high

Kevin Durant offers a kiss to lady who received a ball to the face

On Thanksgiving eve, the Thunder faced off against the Clippers. The game went into overtime resulting in a win for the Thunder 117-110, stopping the Clippers six-game win streak and ending their perfect road record. It was ABSOLUTELY like a playoff game in November. There was one play where an older woman suffered the hazards [...]

Your Morning Dump… Where Paul Pierce has equal opportunity swagger

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. He submitted a forgettable first half against the younger, quicker, more agile Thunder. But, when the third quarter started, the captain stamped his imprint on the game, ripping off seven straight points (a fallaway...

The Best of Tommy

Here's another edition of the Best of Tommy. When Tommy and Mike were doing the Mailbag, Tommy got a question asking who would win a championship first - Perk or Ray. His answer was classic Tommy. Who wins a championship first: Perk or Ray? "Uggghh. Ohhhh....I'm not gonna guess. I'm just gonna say 'Mail again after the All-Star Game.'" — Tommy...

Green comes back to haunt Thunder in Celtics' win

By Mike ShalinThe Sports Xchange BOSTON -- In most situations, Oklahoma City coach Scott Brooks would be thrilled to see Jeff Green have the kind of game he had Friday night. But Friday night, Green, who now plays for the Celtics, had a big game against the Thunder, his old team. "I love him. It was good to see. I was hoping he'd have it against Orlando Sunday and...

The Truth Evolves

Year after year, Paul Pierce has been a foundational rock for the Boston Celtics. Throughout his career, he has filled a myriad of roles and willed his team to wins in the clutch, but his game has evolved over time. Always a crafty player, "The Truth" has fine-tuned his post game, hesitation dribble, ball fakes, step-backs, and jump shot in order to stay competitive despite...

Rondo The Silent Killer: YOUR 2012-2013 NBA MVP

I just got back from an 8-hour drive this Saturday with only one thing on my mind…except for a couple X-rated things. I just wanted to sit on my couch, watch the Celtics play the not so exciting Raptors. Why would I be so enthralled over one lousy regular season game? The answer has two words. RAJON RONDOOOOOOO.  Man, I haven’t been so excited over a player on the Celtics since...

Celtics Live Blog: Kevin Garnett, C’s Give Thanks for Getting Back on Court Against Kevin Durant, Thunder

8 a.m. ET: ‘Tis the season for giving, and the NBA schedule-makers gave the Celtics a challenging slate for the holidays. Two days after taking on the NBA’s most well-coached unit in the Spurs, the Celtics host arguably the league’s most talented roster when the Oklahoma City Thunder pay a post-Thanksgiving visit. Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook will lead the Thunder (9...

Video: Highlights of Kris Joseph's 28 point D-League debut

A lot of people aren't that high on Joseph, because he doesn't have the Sportcenter athleticism, but I like the kid and I think he has an NBA future. So far Jospeh has played well in Summer League, preseason, and now in the D-League. I like how he filled out the stat sheet yesterday (8 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks, and 2 steals, to go along with the 28 points). I would...

On Friday night the Celtics matched up against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The team brought their three time scoring champion, Kevin Durant and old Celtic fan favorite Kendrick Perkins. The Celtics looked to battle to stay above .500 and did just that, finishing the week on a strong point with a win 108-100. The team opened up strong in the first half shooting 52.4% from the field...

Pay close attention.Step 1: Establish a comfortable lead with plenty of time to blow it (or “Set the table”).It all began with this play. The Celtics had kept pace with the Thunder for most of the game, even...

Notes From TD Banknorth Garden: Wait, She Just Got Hit With A Hot Dog?

Every year I try to make it to the Garden as many times as I can to watch the Celtics play. Basketball, more so than any other sport in my opinion, is so much fun to watch in person. To be able to see first hand just how much bigger, stronger and faster these players are than us “normals” is the only way I think you can truly appreciate what happens night in and night out...
