[Discuss on CG Forums! "We played like a group of sissies...I think everybody knows what we did wrong. It's not like we have to go out and beat them up. But still, you get inside position on a rebound, you just can't let somebody go over your back and take it away" Sounds like our Celtics right? Something that a present day player or coach would say after last nights debacle.  That was a Celtics words but that quote came over 28 years ago by the Legend himself. Game 3 of the NBA finals was a horrific showing for the Celtics, the Lakers ran up and down the court and racked up 51 fast break points while thoroughly out rebounding the Celtics. Bird had seen enough and called out his entire team a bold move considering it was in the middle of a finals series but as fate would have it the Celtics would win the championship that year. The series didn't end before a famous Kevin McHale clothesline and a brawl resembling last nights fiasco. "If I'm Brooklyn, and the rest of the league, you've got to think were pretty soft the way were playing" said a clearly irate Rivers. It was only a matter of time before Rivers dropped the "soft" label. Giving up 17 offensive rebounds is no way to back up a macho man act and the Celtics are learning the hard way nobody in the league is afraid of them anymore. This isn't the same team from 2008 that made teams fret over the possibility of entering the Garden or driving down the lane for a basket, that presence just isn't there. When Bird dropped his infamous "s"word the team came out and had a clear vendetta implanted into their minds. They wanted to win but also they wanted to make the lakers bleed, bruise and break. The team played with an edge and heart which propelled them to the championship, something this team desperately needs. It's still early in the year but the Celtics need to start cementing some form of heart, that extra something championship teams have just isn't there which is the worst part about these losses. People might criticize Rondo for initiating the pushing match but I for one stand by him. Yes he's a bonehead that's too stubborn for his own good but at least he cares and doesn't take anybody's crap. He was clearly frustrated and wasn't going to let Humphries push around his teammate. Rondo will always play with a chip on his shoulder and maybe his actions will trigger a spark in the team like Bird was able to do years ago. The team as a whole needs to be more aggressive and play with more heart, something I know these Celtics are capable of. Doc seems to see it too as he kept emphasizing that the team wasn't playing the way it should "right now". The Blazers are another physical and young team that can rebound so Friday should be a good way to judge how this team responds to being called soft, and a lot of other things. Tweet of the Night: " Anyone know where I can get a quick tetanus shot in Boston?" I'm normally against hitting a women but this Kardashian needs to fouled hard next time these teams meet. Maybe a nice Christmas gift for our favorite TV star. Quote of the Night: After calling Humphries soft Jason Terry is informed that Doc Rivers called the Celtics soft, " Well Humphries might as well come play with us then if thats the case". Got to love this guy.
