Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers would prefer to have Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce at full strength, rather than see Boston go into the postseason as complete underdogs. With the health of their stars in question, though, the Celtics have some of the most intriguing NBA odds in the sportsbook. In late January, superstar Rajon Rondo, undoubtedly the Celtics’ most valuable player, went down with a season-ending knee injury. At that point, Boston’s playoff hopes were in jeopardy, but Pierce and Garnett managed to change that. Since then the Celtics have climbed as high as the middle of the East bracket, within reach of home court advantage in the first round. Heading into the final two weeks of the regular season, Boston is seventh, with 50-1 odds of winning the NBA championship. In order for the veteran club to capitalize on its second-half momentum and depart on yet another deep playoff run, the Celtics will need Garnett and Pierce to play less like 37- and 36-year-olds and more like...

Garnett says he wants "fighters" over skill players

Kevin Garnett seemed pretty amped up to be back on the floor Sunday after missing eight games due to a bone spur in his foot. Garnett hates it when he can't play, so much so that he won't even sit on the bench on nights he's sitting out because he wants to be on the court with his teammates so badly. Judging from his latest quotes and his teammates love for him, Garnett...

Your Morning Dump… Where KG is close to returning

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. Your Morning Dump…where the Celtics are going big

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Brandon Bass May Be Biggest Beneficiary of Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce’s Return to Celtics

BOSTON — Brandon Bass has seldom had a play called for him in the NBA, and that is OK with him. The soft-spoken power forward usually has very little to say about himself or his team, whether after wins or losses, 20-point performances or forgettable duds, playoff games or preseason contests. Bass’ play spoke for itself on Sunday — rather, it spoke for his teammates. By coming...

Celtics Likely to Shorten Rotation in Playoffs, But Have Ample Lineup Options If Necessary

BOSTON — Back in uniform for the first time in more than two weeks, Kevin Garnett was far from at his best on Sunday. He found a second wind after halftime, going 3-for-4 from the field in the fourth quarter...
