Lakers @ Celtics 8:00 ET on TNT Up here in the Nosebleed Section we are taking a respectfully guarded approach when it comes to insinuating that the Celtics are somehow better without Rajon Rondo.  Many media outlets point to superior ball movement, defensive prowess, and team chemistry while making the argument that Rondo (and his gaudy numbers over the past few years) was actually inhibiting the development of this roster.   Now, Paul Pierce, Doc Rivers, and anyone with enough sense and experience to avoid getting caught up in knee-jerk reactions to five-game winning streak have dismissed any such assertions outright. And as the Lakers prepare to take on a suddenly hot Boston team, Kobe Bryant weighed in on the post-facto disrespect that Rondo has been the target of recently. In a one-on-one interview with Jackie MacMullan Kobe laughed at the suggestion that the C’s were better without their star point guard before saying, “You don’t want Rondo? Send him my way, I love everything about him. Everything. I love his attitude, I love his chippiness, his edge, his intellect, his know-it-allness. All of it. That’s what makes championship players. What guard have you seen at his size that will get you 18 assists, 17 boards and 20 points all in one game? That’s unheard of. I love that kid. I always make a point of talking to him during All-Star [weekend]. He’s one of my favorites.” While those who are close to the Celtics organization are not necessarily bashing Rondo in the aftermath of his injury, the Boston media has to be careful about driving away a potential franchise player with unfounded criticisms. Despite his talent, Rondo is a sensitive young player who may have fallen into a shooting slump due to some half-hearted comments from President Obama a few seasons ago. Don’t think for a second that he is completely unaware of what people are saying about him, and if he takes it personally, the city of Boston may drive a superstar right out of town. For now, we should just enjoy the product that will be on the court taking on the Lakers on Thursday night, and try to stop jumping to broad conclusions about such a small sample size.

Hold the phone. Photo by Greg M. Cooper/USA Today Sports Images As previously prior to Sunday’s game against LeBron James and the Miami Heat, the elite point guard received word that he tore his ACL and will be out for the rest of the 2012-13 season. For Better or For Worse?

Let’s be honest. Right now, the Celtics are looking the best they have in a long time. They have won their last six games including an embarrassment of the Los Angeles Lakers. Why is this so significant? Because the Celtics are “Rondo-less”. Some are suggesting that the Celtics should trade Rondo, that they are fine without him. To these people, I say, “No.”. Don’t get...

Old man Paul Pierce is doing what Rajon Rondo did for Boston Celtics

When Celtics All Star Rajon Rondo was lost to a season ending injury he was dominating the NBA in triple doubles, even posting one in each of his final two games.  In Boston’s first contest without Rondo, Paul Pierce managed a trible double of his own.  During the C’s 5 game winning streak Pierce has continually put up some very Rondo-esque numbers.  His scoring is down...

Kendrick Perkins Provides Support for Rajon Rondo in ACL Recovery, Says Biggest Hurdle Will Be Mentally

Rajon Rondo is looking at a long road back from ACL surgery, but he’ll have a familiar face helping him along as he recovers. Former Celtics teammate Kendrick Perkins, now with the Oklahoma City Thunder, had a similar injury in 2010, when he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee while playing the Lakers in the NBA Finals. Perkins was back on the court within seven...

How Kobe Bryant & Bill Belichick ended up Friends

Just going off of personalities, it would be easy to conclude that Lakers guard Kobe Bryant and New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick would have little in-common. Bryant has never been known to hold his tongue  and Belichick is notoriously known for never having much to say. No way the two could ever end [...]
