Found July 24, 2012 on Celtics Town:

Michael Pietrus just punched his ticket out of Boston, if his agent is to be trusted.  Pietrus’ agent, Bill McCandless, told Ben Rohrbach of WEEI that Pietrus will not sign for the veteran’s minimum:
“MP will not play for the veteran’s minimum. Period,” said McCandless. “It’s not happening. That’s the beginning, middle and end of that. … He is not a veteran’s minimum player. There’s no chance he’ll ever sign for that.”
According to McCandless, Pietrus has already received much better offers from another NBA team and a club overseas. The most the Celtics could offer is the bi-annual exception starting at $1.95 million, but I don’t see why they would spend that valuable money on Pietrus, who would be nothing better than an insurance policy for Avery Bradley, Jeff Green, and the other wings ahead of him in the rotation.  Danny Ainge would be better off spending the bi-annual exception on a frontcourt player who can contribute with defense and rebounding.Pietrus was a valuable player for the Celtics last season until he sustained that vicious concussion and returned at less than full strength, while also dealing with a knee injury. While his defense was valuable, Pietrus shot just 22.2% on three-pointers in the playoffs. Pietrus was a happy-go-lucky guy who helped build up his teammates and the locker room environment, and, in that capacity, he will certainly be missed.

No Timetable Set for Bradley

When last we saw Avery Bradley, he was leaving the court in agony after injuring his shoulder for the umpteenth time last season. Over the offseason he has had surgery on both shoulders to not only repair the damage, but to insure that this doesn't happen again. CSNNE reports that since the surgeries,   Bradley has regained some of the range of motion that he lost with...

Your Morning Dump… Where Avery Bradley doesn’t know anything about his rehab time frame

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.   “I don’t know anything,” Bradley told CSNNE.com in a phone interview. “They just want me to get healthy. That’s all they really tell me. They don’t really give me time frames.” While the exact time...

A Refresher Course on Jeff Green

I’m not sure if this holds true for most Boston fans, but I frequently forget that the Celtics have Jeff Green. The fact that Green sat out last season continues to throw me when I’m considering potential lineups for the 2012-2013 campaign. But Green will likely be a rather important contributor, so if you are like me and his presence often slips beneath your notice, we could...

Jeff Green contract not done but ‘imminent,’ says agent

Jeff Green’s contract, which will reportedly pay him $36 million over four years and looks better now that Andrei Kirilenko signed for more annual money (???), is not yet done but still appears imminent. This is good, because it’d be awkward if the Celtics introduced Green as a member of the team only to let him walk later because they didn’t want to submit to his demands...

Avery Bradley not sure when he’ll return

It appears even Avery Bradley is unsure of his own timetable to return from multiple shoulder surgeries this offseason. From a phone interview with CSNNE.com:“I don’t know anything,” Bradley said. “They just want me to get healthy. That’s all they really tell me. They don’t really give me time frames.”“We know there’s a possibility that Avery won’t be able to...

Jeff Green Finalizing Four-Year Deal With Celtics

Jeff Green has agreed to the framework of a four-year deal with the Celtics.

How Danny Ainge reloaded the Boston Celtics

Danny Ainge has successfully positioned the Celtics to contend once again in 2012-13 I’ve said some really mean things about Boston Celtics general manager Danny Ainge over the years. Some of the vitriol he has received from me has been deservedly so. Danny Ainge once made mid-season trades for Sam Cassel and Stephon Marbury to be the Celtics’ back-up point guard despite evidence...

The Boston Celtics Youth Movement

The Celtics time as a group of old geisers has come and passed. We can finally stop saying “can they make one more run at it?” The departure of Ray Allen and the addition of several young players has signaled the end of the Old Team era and the beginning of a new Celtics philosophy. Courtney Lee (26), Jeff Green (25), Kris Joseph (23), Fab Melo (22), Avery Bradley (21) and Jared...

Picking Up The Pieces From The 2012 NBA Off-Season

A Bob Ryan-like picking up the pieces column on the NBA off-season.   Overall, I’m pretty happy with the off-season of one Danny Ainge.  I’m even happier with the direction the Boston Celtics seem to be taking. The talent on the Celtics has improved drastically, and the Celtics’ cap is not in shambles for [...]

Pietrus’ agent: He is not a veteran minimum player

The Celtics roster is almost set.  With 13 players (if you count Jeff Green) officially under contract, the Celtics are really only expected to add one more player so they can keep their options open during the season.  And even if they decided to carry the full 15 into the season, that’s still only two more open spots to fill. So the question now is, how will those be filled...

Your Morning Dump… where Chris Wilcox talks about his heart condition

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. It’s been good, it’s been bad, it’s been good… I was so scared coming out of surgery because I didn’t know what to expect, every time something happened or I felt some discomfort I called Jeff  [Green...

The Red’s Army Vegas Summer League wrap up

The Celtics have left Las Vegas and so have I.  It was a pretty good trip for everyone, as many of the Celtics came away from the week with something positive.  Here, in case you missed any of the coverage, is a wrap up of the week. First and foremost, I want to thank the good folks at MBR Radio in Maine, especially Program Director Matt Boutwell for the help this week.  None...

NBA Off Season: Winners and Losers

After an eventful shortened season and even better playoffs, teams have been preparing themselves for the next season through the draft and free agency. A few teams have thrown themselves in the conversation of “title contender”, some teams have stayed put in hopes that things could swing their way, while some have decreased in overall talent setting their organizations up for...
