Bill Russell is an NBA legend, and as such, gets invited to many important events.

On Monday, Russell was attending President Barack Obama‘s second inauguration, and did so in style. The 11-time NBA champion wore a Celtics hat to the ceremony, as if that would be enough to identify him.

Still, ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos mixed up Russell with another celebrity, mistakenly identifying the former center as actor Morgan Freeman when spotted by television cameras. The anchor quickly corrected himself but the damage was done.

ABC commentator confuses Bill Russell with Morgan Freeman at Presidential Inauguration

Not going to lie - I can see it It's been a dark 24 hours for Boston. Morgan Freeman, er, Bill Russell attends Obama inauguration

I’m shocked that a political nerd like George Stephanopoulos couldn’t recognize the greatest winner in the history of sports. Bill Russell: 11 championships Morgan Freeman: 1 Academy Award I can’t believe Freeman didn’t win an Oscar for playing Red in Shawshank Redemption. Now that’s criminal.
