Just thought I'd share a bit of nostalgia. Above is the 1995 All American High School Slam Dunk Contest featuring Paul Pierce, Kris Clack and Vince Carter. Carter eventually won but The Captain had some impressive dunks as well and made it to the Finals. After the Jump you'll see some of the highlights from the 1995 McDonalds All American game.  This was one of the most star-studded All American Games ever. It included Kevin Garnett, Vince Carter, Stephon Marbury, Paul Pierce among others. [Discuss on CG Forums!]

Your Morning Dump… Where Paul Pierce has equal opportunity swagger

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. He submitted a forgettable first half against the younger, quicker, more agile Thunder. But, when the third quarter started, the captain stamped his imprint on the game, ripping off seven straight points (a fallaway...

The Truth Evolves

Year after year, Paul Pierce has been a foundational rock for the Boston Celtics. Throughout his career, he has filled a myriad of roles and willed his team to wins in the clutch, but his game has evolved over time. Always a crafty player, "The Truth" has fine-tuned his post game, hesitation dribble, ball fakes, step-backs, and jump shot in order to stay competitive despite...

Pierce leads Celtics over Thunder

Paul Pierce scored 22 of his 27 points in the second half and the Boston Celtics snapped a two-game losing streak by beating the Oklahoma City Thunder 108-100 on Friday night. Kevin Garnett had 18 points and nine rebounds for the Celtics, who led by 14 in the second half and held on after the Thunder cut it to three points with under two minutes remaining. Rajon Rondo had 16 assists...

Recap: Celtics salvage season with huge victory over Thunder

So I may have reached a bit with my headline, but I needed that win. Fueled by Paul Pierce and Jeff Green, the Celtics beat the Oklahoma City Thunder, 108-100. While Pierce and Green deserve credit for strong individual performances, this truly was a team effort. The Celtics had 8 offensive rebounds. The bench cranked out 35 points. The defense came alive (in the 2nd and 3rd quarters...

Video: Highlights of Kris Joseph's 28 point D-League debut

A lot of people aren't that high on Joseph, because he doesn't have the Sportcenter athleticism, but I like the kid and I think he has an NBA future. So far Jospeh has played well in Summer League, preseason, and now in the D-League. I like how he filled out the stat sheet yesterday (8 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks, and 2 steals, to go along with the 28 points). I would...

Jeff Green Breaks Out Against Former Team, Combines With Paul Pierce to Make Tough Night for Kevin Durant

BOSTON — Jeff Green found the concept baffling. His good friend and former teammate, Kevin Durant, dropped 29 points against him, yet it was suggested that he and Paul Pierce had teamed up to make the Oklahoma City Thunder forward’s night miserable. “He still got 37 points,” Green said, before he was quickly told Durant’s actual scoring total. “Close to 30, whatever....

Mavericks hand Knicks second loss

Vince Carter drove the baseline and leaped, his feet hovering over the end line, when he reached out with his right hand and made a reverse layup. That was part of Carter's 14 points in the fourth quarter for the Dallas Mavericks, after O.J. Mayo's go-ahead spurt to end the third, and it almost wasn't enough against the New York Knicks. Dallas held on for a 114-111...

Notes From TD Banknorth Garden: Wait, She Just Got Hit With A Hot Dog?

Every year I try to make it to the Garden as many times as I can to watch the Celtics play. Basketball, more so than any other sport in my opinion, is so much fun to watch in person. To be able to see first hand just how much bigger, stronger and faster these players are than us “normals” is the only way I think you can truly appreciate what happens night in and night out...

Mayo, Carter lead Mavericks past Knicks

DALLAS -- O.J. Mayo and Vince Carter combined for 52 points as the Dallas Mavericks escaped with a 114-111 victory over the New York Knicks on Wednesday night at American Airlines Center. New York (7-2) had a chance to pull out the win with a furious rally down the stretch, but Carmelo Anthony's jumper with less than five seconds left came up short. Mayo scored 27, with Carter...
