PLAYERS: Paul Pierce
TEAMS: Boston Celtics

From The NBA Mistress:

If you didn’t think the 2011-2012 NBA Playoffs could get any stranger, you were very wrong. Without Rajon Rondo during Game 2 of their first-round Eastern Conference playoff series against the Hawks, the Boston Celtics rallied to snatch a win on Tuesday night, but that wasn’t the strange part.

It’s what Paul Pierce did at midcourt at 1:15 during the 4th quarter that was stunning: HE TEBOWED!

The Celtics snagged Game 2 87-80, and Paul Pierce racked up 36 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists in the win.

  • The Truth baby!!! Nice job double P--you were awesome tonight!!
  • It takes a big man to admit it's NOT just him but a 'higher power' who helps him to succeed. I can only hope those "Tebowing" are praying to God Himself and HIS only Son, Jesus Christ.
P.S. Those wanting to help Timmy with his Hospital in the Phillipines go to and make a small donation.
  • I agree 100%. Its not us working but God working thru us. And I am glad to see our self proclaimed role models taking the responsibility to live right.
  • Why is it Tebowing? Black atheletes have been praising God on and off the court or playing field long before Tebow came along.
  • No,they haven't. I have seen them make the sign of the cross and thank God, but they don't take a knee and praise the Lord.
  • Yes, some do knee in the end zone and thank God.
  • While that is a true statement, that is irrelevent to Paul Pierce last night. That was "Tebowing", and it was hilarious.
  • Maybe so-- but those same athletes have never publicly acknowledged their faith in the oneLiving God as Tim Tebow has. They just make gestures on the court/playing field et. How are we fans to know if they don't speak up? Right?
  • Players have been doing that for years, as has Tebow. All of a sudden this year the media catches on... late as usual.
  • Paul Pierce has always been willing to do whatever it takes to get people to notice him. He is like a 2 year old child that needs constant attention.

Paul Pierce is a legend: ‘Tebow’ captain!

Paul Pierce is the captain of the Boston Celtics. He has gone from a Celtic that drifted from season to season, never accomplishing much. Today, he can let his record speak for itself, an NBA champion and Finals MVP. Pierce surpassed Larry Bird to move into number 2 on the Celtics all-time scoring list. He [...]

Paul Pierce “Tebows” on the Hawks logo after the Celtics win

I know a lot of people have mixed feelings about Paul Pierce. Even though he plays for the Celtics, I have an affinity for him. Maybe it’s that he’s from INGLEWOOD. Whatever it is, I respect his confidence on the court. I love that he delivers and then pops sh*t. Tonight following a Celtics win [...]

I think the title says it all…

You Can’t Handle The Truth

Paul Pierce willed the Celtics to victory over the Hawks on Tuesday night, dropping 36 points and 14 rebounds in a must-win situation. He absolutely took over in the fourth quarter. What do they say? Big players make big plays in big games? Well Pierce did that again, and he’s earned this montage with a little Eminem dubbed over it.

Paul Pierce Befuddles Coaches, Opponents With Sneaky Skills as Celtics Hope for Another Huge Performance

WALTHAM, Mass. -- Doc Rivers knows what Hawks coach Larry Drew is going through. After Paul Pierce exploded for 36 points and 14 rebounds in 44 grueling minutes in Game 2, Rivers had a good idea of how he would have reacted in his early days coaching against the Celtics. Rivers always seemed to be at a loss for how the stumbling, herky-jerky forward could take over games despite...

Celtics 87, Hawks 80

ATLANTA -- On a night where he knew he would have to come up big, Paul Pierce poured in 36 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to power the Boston Celtics to an 87-80 victory over the Atlanta Hawks Tuesday night. Despite being without guard Rajon Rondo, who was suspended for one game for bumping an official in Game 1, and Ray Allen, out with an ankle injury, the Celtics were able to...

Celtics clamp down late, take Game 2 87-80

No Rajon Rondo? No Ray Allen? Eh, whatever. Paul Pierce turned into the 2002 version of Paul Pierce and carried the Celtics offensively. 36 points, 14 rebounds and one massive, backbreaking shot after another down the stretch more than made up for the Celtics' firepower that was relegated to viewership status. Calling his performance a thing of beauty would be an insult...
