BOSTON — The Celtics started Friday’s game like every other since their post-Christmas hangover began. They missed makeable shots, fired up 3-pointers early in the shot clock and looked all-around lost on offense. A funny thing happened when they looked up at the scoreboard at the end of the first quarter, though. Despite shooting 29 percent from the field and committing as many fouls as assists, they trailed by only one point to the Indiana Pacers, who came to the TD Garden with the fourth-best record in the Eastern Conference. With that putrid start behind them, the Celtics shot 60 percent in the second quarter and never allowed the Pacers to hit more than 33 percent of their shots in dousing Indiana 94-75 to snap a four-game losing streak. Avery Bradley, who missed eight of the 11 shots he took but played hounding defense, was labeled the game’s most valuable player by Celtics coach Doc Rivers, who also called the first quarter brickfest “the biggest stretch in the game.” This wa...

Bradley's return shows he is not the team's savior

Avery Bradley made his return to the court Wednesday in the 93-83 loss to Memphis, and he brought a little reality with him. The team did show some flashes of confidence with number zero back and had more fight in them than the previous few games, but one thing became clear as the game progressed: Avery Bradley is not the savior of the Celtics. Granted, he only played 20 minutes...

Rajon Rondo and home-bias assists

Is Rondo getting some home-court advantage with his numbers? An interesting post on Sunday from Hoopdata’s Blake Murphy discussing whether or not players get added benefits when it comes to the scoring of assists when the player is at home. The assist, more than any other statistic in sports besides the lacrosse assist and the baseball error, is most affected by how the scorer...

Avery Bradley High on List, But Not at Top, of Best One-on-One Defenders in NBA (Photos)

Avery Bradley was back in uniform for the Celtics on Wednesday, re-assuming his title as the league’s best perimeter defender. His return did not keep Mike Conley from going off for 23 points or prevent the Grizzlies from shooting better than 60 percent in the first half, but the Celtics were encouraged by Bradley’s play in his season debut nonetheless. Conley admitted he felt...

Celtics Must Take Baby Steps Before Hitting Full Stride, Process Begins With Avery Bradley’s Return (Video)

These aren’t the Celtics. They can’t be. That’s likely the agonizing response of many C’s fans throughout this losing streak, which was extended to four games Wednesday night when the Grizzlies showed up to TD Garden and controlled play for four quarters en route to a 93-83 victory. And the fact of the matter is that the Celtics have some serious flaws. The C’s now sit...

Live Game Updates - Pacers @ Celtics

7:59: The Pacers will get lucky tonight as they will face the weak Boston Celtics. Avery Bradley, coming off his bad debut Wednesday, will play again tonight with high expectations. The only lineup change to report is that Brandon Bass will start instead of Jason Collins, who will play off the bench. The Celtics' fans' tolerance bevel is decreasing so they really need a win...

Your Morning Dump… Where the C’s will change the lineup before changing players

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. “I think Doc is probably going to try and tweak the lineup again and do some things different. We’ll just try to be patient with this team as long as we can,” said the president of basketball operations. He...

RedsArmy presents: Fan Friday #36: “CelticNation Colombia”

Donald, 17, is this week’s featured fan. He lives in Colombia and has been a Celtics fan for most of his young life. Some of you may know him from his Twitter account, @boceltics18. As is the case with most Celtics fans who are not in North America, Donald must depend on the internet to get his daily dose of Celtics.
