PLAYERS: Rajon Rondo
TEAMS: Boston Celtics
The Celtics showed a lot more life Saturday night against the Wizards than they did in their first two games of the season, which were both losses. But after jumping out to an early lead Saturday, Boston was fighting fatigue down the stretch as the C's tried to close out the game. Enter Rajon Rondo. With just over four minutes on the game clock and the Celtics needing some offense to hold on to their slim lead, Rondo went for a shot but had his attempt blocked. No matter -- the crafty Celtics guard, who has always been more adept at passing, tipping and batting the ball than anything else -- came up with his own rebound and, in one motion, tossed up a one-handed floater to beat the shot clock and get the bucket. It was, as so many of Rondo's moves are, a shot like no other. Check it out in the video below.

Be Still My Heart: Rondo Teaching Algebra

Teaching freshman algebra with Ms. Oshodi at Burke high school this AM. Thx for having me twitter.com/RajonRondo/sta… — Rajon Rondo (@RajonRondo) November 6, 2012 Now this has made my day. Scratch that. It made my week. No, it probably made my year! I posted today about how excited I was, as a math teacher, to see Jared Sullinger's dad Satch using math in explaining...

Rajon Rondo's crazy one-handed shot #3 on NBA's top plays

Rajon Rondo's one-handed shot-clock beater was named the #3 play of last night by the NBA. Many other entertaining plays are among those in the video above, including a vicious Vinsanity block, a Gerald Green dunk, and a buzzer-beating game-winning 3 pointer by Brandon Jennings.

Rajon Rondo Teaches Some Algebra Just Because

Rajon Rondo of the Boston Celtics Tweeted out a picture of himself teaching a high school freshman class of Algebra on Tuesday morning and the reasons why he was doing so are not entirely clear. It is well noted that Rondo was one of the smartest kids in his high school classes, so maybe he wanted to re-visit the glory days? Maybe he was just bored and wanted to get some practice...

Doc doesn’t want Rondo saving himself on the floor

Rajon Rondo has played a lot of minutes.  That’s probably because, as usual, there isn’t a reliable option behind him to run the Celtics offense. We knew going into this season that Rondo would play a lot of minutes.  But there have been way too many instances of Rondo slacking off.  The most egregious examples come from the Milwaukee game, where a lot of guys were coasting...

Boston Celtic Point Guard Rajon Rondo Has a New Move

Everyone in and around the NBA is prepared to admit that Boston Celtic point guard Rajon Rondo is good. How good, or even great, is a matter of considerable debate. Celtics101 has always been firm in our support of Rondo, but opinion on the polarizing point man is divided even amongst Celtic fans. However one of the main reasons that 101 has always come down on Rondo’s side is...

Tale of Two Guards: Rajon Rondo and Jason Terry

The stage is set for another successful season out of the Boston Celtics, a team that’s managed to round out its roster with some younger pieces, yet still was able to maintain its veteran core. Rajon Rondo, while still only 26 years old, has become a part of that core, as he’s teamed up with Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce to give the Celtics a Big Three over the past few seasons...

Rajon Rondo Makes Incredible Basket

Go ahead.  Try this at your local schoolyard.  Call me when you actually make it. In other news, Rajon Rondo needs to be more aggressive in his own offense.

Rondo Accepts Responsibility For Celtics' Struggles

Rajon Rondo accepted responsibility for the Boston Celtics' 0-2 start to the season.

Paul Pierce, Rajon Rondo Must Do More Than Post Empty Stats And Other Impressions From Celtics' Win Over Wizards

At first glance, this was a solid night's work for the Celtics' trio of All-Stars. Rajon Rondo, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett finished with reasonably strong statistics, and if the Celtics adhered to the mantra that any win is a good win, then everyone might have gone home happy. But none of those three played as well as their stat lines might suggest, and...

Taking Stock: Celtics – Wizards

After every game, we’ll take stock of how each individual performance affects the player’s overall value. Starters Rajon Rondo:  Better effort in this one, which shows the Milwaukee was a cruise-control, front-end of a back-to-back game.  I’m still not a big fan of Rondo’s half court defense, which I feel could be better if he just took better angles when he comes off picks...

Recap: Milwaukee embarrasses Celtics in home opener

The Boston Celtics have some very big problems right now.  I stress right now because it’s way too early in the season to get TOO worked up.  but I stress “very” because the Celtics problems are really, really, really quite bad.   Don’t let the 11 point final spread fool you, the Celtics got blown out all game long.  A couple of Jason Terry threes in garbage time helped...

Comments from the Other Side - Bucks 11/2

Comments after losses are usually pretty depressing. I have to say, I kind of like Bucks fans. They seem like a decent bunch who have been used to cheering for a losing team and seemed quite surprised by this win. Not much hate for the Celtics like there is in a lot of fan bases either. So, in spite of the loss, these comments aren't all that bad. Hopefully tonight we get...

Bucks Spoil Home Opener 99-88

On Friday night the Celtics opened up their 2012-2013 season at home against the Milwaukee Bucks. Coming off a loss to the Miami Heat the Celtics looked to crack down on the defensive end and continue to execute on offense. Unfortunately neither of these things happened for the Celtics as they lost to the Bucks 99-88. The Celtics struggled from the start looking sloppy on offense...
