Ray Allen is getting a head start on making himself desirable to teams looking to sign him when free agency begins in July.

According to the Boston Herald, Allen will have surgery on Wednesday morning to have the infamous bone spurs removed from his infamous right ankle. The ankle, which has been operated on in the past, gave him issues for the last two and a half months as he missed games, three-pointers and a lot of free throws.

Allen found a little extra in reserve over the final six games of the Eastern Conference Finals, but with his contract expiring and his next basketball venture unknown, now is the time to get this done. For those of you who don't remember, Ray was as hot as he'd ever been in the first half of the season and was one of the few bright spots for the Celtics before the All-Star break. The man can still shoot. He hasn't forgotten how to do that.

He'll get offers. He'll probably get one from the Celtics. Will it be a good one that he feels like he has to accept? Probably not. But he'll make some time very happy and very dangerous from the perimeter.
