Ray Allen will miss his fourth consecutive game Wednesday night against the Utah Jazz, leaving Avery Bradley to make his third straight start.

Doc Rivers said before Wednesday’s game that he is not overly concerned about Allen’s injury, but history’s most prolific three-point shooter did not feel well enough to play after going through his normal pregame shooting routine.

“He’s doing great,” joked Rivers about Allen, before saying, “He’s not doing great enough to play. He went through shoot-around today and just didn’t feel right, so we’re hoping for Friday.”

Rivers added, “”I don’t think I’m that concerned by it. I wouldn’t know anyway, so there’s no reason for me to worry about an injury — we’ve got a lot of them this year. He’ll be fine, I think. We just hope it doesn’t become one of those things that linger, where you play a couple of games and then have to sit out a couple. I don’t see that happening, but I don’t honestly have the knowledge to know that.”

Allen’s injury leaves the Celtics to start the Bradley-Rajon Rondo backcourt, which has helped the Celtics get off to good starts in the past two games. According to Rivers, Bradley has benefited from being the player opponents choose to leave.

“I kid him all the time: ‘Eventually, they’re going to guard you. Right now they still kind of help off of you. And until they want to play you honest, just keep making them pay for it,’” Rivers said.
