The first All-Star ballot results are in and the Celtics look to be well represented following the recent revisions to the ballot. After the Roy Hibbert debacle last year the ballot was changed to two backcourt and three frontcourt positions, doing away with the Center designation entirely. Following the top two vote-getters in the Eastern Conference, LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Garnett has an 8000 vote lead on Chris Bosh for the third starting frontcourt spot. Paul Pierce, who has just over half of Garnetts 218,246 votes, looks to be in line for a spot on the bench (he’s 6th in Eastern Conference frontcourt votes).Rajon Rondo trails only Dwayne Wade in the Eastern Conference guard voting with 382,613 votes. After almost being snubbed last year Rondo appears to be the most popular PG in the East by a mile. Of course, Derrick Rose has been unable to play as he works his way back from a torn ACL, Kyrie Irving just returned from a broken finger, Deron Williams has been pretty mediocre, and the casual NBA fan has no idea how good Jrue Holiday has been–but we’ll take what we can get. While it’s nice to see the Celtics well represented in the All-Star voting, I have to agree with John Karalis of RedsArmy.com. It’s great that KG is still getting this much respect at 36, but he’d be much better served by getting some rest during the All-Star break. Garnett is a 14 time All-Star; I think he’s past the point in his career where he needs the validation of a glorified scrimmage.Follow Jordan on Twitter: @OffensiveG
