Danny Ainge tells Globe Rondo underwent ACL surgery Tues Performed by James Andrews. Ainge says Rondo suffered no other knee damage #celticsabout 4 hours ago via Twitter for AndroidReplyRetweetFavorite@GwashNBAGlobegary washburnThis news above via Gary Washburn is good news, but the additional piece of the story, potentially typical Rondo hubris comes from his statements as quoted  through the Boston Herald that he would like to have a “better recovery than Adrian Peterson”.  His journey is scheduled to begin before the 2013-2014 training camps, as that is when doctors say he will be recovered. For those of you who do not know, Peterson came back from ACL surgery to put up one of the best seasons in football history on his way to becoming the NFL MVP, as he was seven yards short of breaking the all-time season rushing record.  Dr. James Andrews performed both surgeries, and at this point must be a wealthy wealthy man.  Rondo’s confidence in his own body may be misguided, as he barely felt pain and was a late scratch for the game prior to his MRIs confirming his ACL tear.  His body is the aspect that let him down, and while his mind certainly seems right– as his lofty Peterson comparison certainly shows, it is his body that needs to be in top shape– and that is still the unknown.  Hopefully the mind and body will be in sync heading into the 2014 season, as I would be pleased with Rondo getting only 2,000 rushing yards and only 10 touchdowns (approximate translation into basketball terms: averaging 18,11, and 7).
