After the Celtic's second week of play they sit with a record of 3-3. The team has continued to struggle to find their identity, a proper bench rotation, and consistent effort on both offense and defense. In this Rookie Report we'll cover the newcomers contributions this past week, how bench rotation will alter minutes, and what to look for this week. In week one we saw Jared Sullinger's minutes steadily increase. Interestingly enough the opposite occurred in week two even though the Celtics faced the same te...

Jeff Green Is Not a Good Basketball Player

Jeff Green Cannot Play, And It Has Crippled the Boston Celtics   Remember that vaunted Boston Celtics bench? The one that was going to carry the Celts at the very least back to the Eastern Conference Finals, with a chance to bring home Banner 18? The Celtics bench had the quintessential microwave in Jason Terry.  [...]

Boston Celtics Player Overview

The Celtics started out the new season with two straight losses, but they’ve bounced back and won four of their last five ahead of Wednesday’s home game against the Utah Jazz. Who have been the key contributors to the cause so far? You’ve got to start with Paul Pierce, who’s really taken over and become the nightly scoring threat we were accustomed to seeing. Pierce is averaging...

Celtics getting closer to finding Leandro's role

The one (slight?) concern that Celtics fans had in the beginning of the season was the lack of a pure backup PG. There were two sides to that: Yes, it is very important to cut Rondo's minutes efficiently, yet there are no backup PGs available who can do that at a satisfactory level. Celtics' experiments with veteran PGs have not been the best as we all know (save for Dooling...

Why doesn't the NBA credit assists on made free throws?

Rondo got robbed of an assist when Garnett got hit. Rajon Rondo's spectacular streak of 30 games with 10+ assists has led me to keep a very close eye on his ball distribution of late.  As he continues to climb his way up the charts towards the all-time record, I watch each game intently keeping track of his assist count. While at the Garden last Wednesday I noticed three...

Keyon Dooling is a brave brave man.

In an NBA.com article this morning by David Aldridge (scroll down past the Laker talk), Keyon Dooling tells the story of a nervous breakdown he sustained this summer, and his subsequent week long stay in a mental institution.  He details the experiences that led to his decision to retire from the Celtics, which all stem from sexual abuse he suffered as a child. "It started...

Jason Terry is a pretty good shooter, drains 50 of 55 shots (Video)

Taking Stock: Celtics – Bulls

After every game, we’ll take stock of how each individual performance affects the player’s overall value. Starters Offense:  20 points on a very efficient 10-16 shooting.  He hit 5 of 6 shots at the rim, and 5 of 8 from everywhere else inside the 3-point line.  A few of his turnovers were sloppy, but a few of his passes were spectacular. Defense:  He played the passing lanes...

DeMarcus Cousins continues to be a knucklehead; Should the Celtics make a play for him?

Stop thinking and just do what I say DeMarcus Cousins was suspended again yesterday. This time for 2 games for his attack on Spurs announcer Sean Elliott, based on Elliott's mild criticism of him on the air. Reporters wondered why he got such a serious penalty for going after an announcer, but it's obvious to me. It's called being a repeat offender. Try getting caught...

I like this.  I can fill the whole ballot with Celtics and Thunder players.   This is the first time I think that's ever happened.  I know I'll be voting every day.   Here's the link if you want to vote.  All Star Ballot Here. [Discuss on CG Forums!]

Celtics vs. Bulls game preview

In a rematch of the most entertaining seven-game series I have been alive for, the Bulls and the Celtics square off in Chicago at 8:00 pm.   This should be the first real test for the Celtics since their opener against the Miami Heat and a test of team cohesion.  The boys from Boston have played and lost to some of the middle-of-the-pack teams in the NBA, this will be a good litmus...
