What would a day be without a few rumors. There is a lot of speculation that the press conference that wasn't was a bluff to get the Clippers to negotiate again after they refused to give the Celtics any compensation yesterday. I can see Danny saying to Donald Sterling and co, "Fine, if you don't want to give me anything we'll just keep him and we're announcing it today." Good bluff, Danny, good bluff. Perhaps the funniest thing on Twitter comes from Sean Grande who has dubbed this the "Doc-alypse." Now, for the good stuff. We haven't heard much about Paul Pierce lately with all this Doc and KG stuff going on so I'll start with the Paul Pierce rumor. Sam Amico with Fox Sports Ohio has this on the Celtics' Captain: According to one report, the Cavs and Boston Celtics are discussing a trade involving the Cavs’ two second-round picks (Nos. 31 and 33) for Celtics forward Paul Pierce. The Milwaukee Bucks have also had conversations with the Celtics about Pierce, sources said. Whether the Pierce rumors are true or not, there’s little doubt the Cavs have had discussions about trading their second-rounders and 19th overall selection to move up in the draft. We knew that Danny was going to try to trade Pierce and more than likely before the June 27th draft so these rumors don't come as a surprise. It also doesn't surprise me that Danny is looking for second rounders given the number of possible 2nd round picks that Danny has had in for workouts. Doc to the Clippers rumors after the jump... Just got this on #Celtics-#Clippers: Clips offering 2015 No. 1 pick, lottery-protected…. Let haggling begin: Two hours' worth, at least. — Mark Heisler (@MarkHeisler) June 21, 2013 Clippers raised idea of future 2nd round pick for rights to Doc Rivers, but Celtics waiting on 1st rounder, sources tell Y! Talks nowhere. — Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojYahooNBA) June 21, 2013 If #Clippers offering No. 2, may got to protected No. 1 in 2015 w/#Celtics seeking unprotected 2014 No. 1… this !@#%$! thing may last weeks! — Mark Heisler (@MarkHeisler) June 21, 2013 Please disregard prediction #Celtics #Clippers will fish or cut bait today. W/LAC offering No. 2, may break for weekend, let each other stew — Mark Heisler (@MarkHeisler) June 21, 2013 Celtics and Doc Rivers' camp rapidly reaching belief there's no deal to be made with Clippers. Rivers flying back to Orlando.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojYahooNBA) June 21, 2013 Round and round she goes and where she stops nobody knows. There's those sources again telling Heisler that they offered a protected 2015 first round pick. And Wojo's sources saying they only offered a second round pick and Doc's going home because .... well, just because. And on and on.... I'm beginning to believe the report that this is all a sham by the Clippers to keep Chris Paul happy and they have no interest in hiring Doc. [Discuss on CG Forums!]
