Photo courtesy of the Boston Herald The Celtics have released a statement from Jared Sullinger concerning his arrest on domestic violence charges today. As reported in the Herald: "I voluntarily reported to the Waltham police this morning to respond to charges against me," he said. "The experience was humbling and embarrassing for me. Yet I know that this situation has brought both sorrow and embarrassment to my girlfriend, my family, the Boston Celtics organization, my teammates, and my fans. To all of you, I apologize from the bottom of my heart. “My lawyers have advised me not to discuss the case at this time. But I wanted to immediately and publicly apologize to everyone affected by this situation." Also reported by the Herald was this statement by the Celtics organization: “The Celtics were disappointed to learn of the allegations against Jared and are currently gathering more information on the situation, which we are taking very seriously. We will reserve further comment until such point that we have sufficient additional information." As I have said before, I'm not about to pass judgement on Sully in a situation like this. If Sully did use unprovoked violence on his girlfriend, he was wrong and should pay a penalty for it. But until all the facts on both sides are known, no one but Sully and his girlfriend actually know what happened. I remember that for years I believed that Jason Kidd was a wife abuser but when the truth came out in that relationship, he was actually the victim. I'm glad that Sully apologized and that he is humbled and embarrassed. As I also said before, one thing that Jared Sullinger has going for him that many young athletes don't is a strong father who has strong principles. If Sully has strayed, I can pretty much guarantee that Satch Sullinger will get him back on track, kind of like when he held him out of an important game for not doing his homework, leading to a loss. Sometimes life's lessons are tough but once we go through them we can be better because of them. [Discuss on CG Forums!]
