Tommy is such a treasure. The man has been a Celtic for over 50 years. He loves the Celtics and I love that about him. Other teams' fans may bemoan the fact that they get the Celtics feed, but I hate listening to anyone else. Tommy started out with this gem: On Rondo's importance to the Celtics "He has to be, in an essence, the rabbit for the greyhounds.Let's get the rabbit going." — Tommy Heinsohn (@CSNTommy) January 5, 2013 Tommy loves it when they run and yes, Rondo gets the rest of the team running just like the rabbit that the greyhounds chase, but Avery Bradley is like the Energizer bunny. He's what gets Rondo going. Rondo loves having Avery to run with. And Tommy weighed in on former Celtic Gerald Green, who didn't have a great game last night. But, I've always liked Gerald and I'm glad he's getting another chance. Green misses the three... Mike: "Gerald Green doesn't hesitate." Sometimes they hit everything and then other times they can't hit the broad side of a barn. The last two games, Courtney Lee has been shooting well so hopefully he's gotten past his slump. Now if only Jason Terry and Jeff Green could find their shots. Tommy was asking Mike if he could shoot but I'll bet Tommy could still fill up the basket if he wanted to. C's are struggling shooting, maybe Mike Gorman can help! The Celtics have been missing players who are willing to fight and box out on the boards. I love watching Sully play because he's got that old school skill of boxing out down pat. He uses his body well (including his elbows at times) to clear out some real estate under the basket. I was getting mad at first watching them let contact go, like the Hibbert push. But then I realized they were pretty much letting a lot go on both ends. They tightened it up in the second half though after the game got chippy, which it usually does when they let teams get away with stuff at the beginning. They ended up calling 10 more fouls on the Celtics than the Pacers. While we are talking free throws, the Celtics missed 8 out of 18. They need to work on that. On Sullinger's placement under the basket: "All Hibbert could do was to push him out of the way.That was blatant.And I mean blatant!" — Tommy Heinsohn (@CSNTommy) January 5, 2013 If one player set the tone last night it was KG. He was aggressive right from the tip on both ends of the court. He wasn't going to let them lose that game. And he kept it up right until the refs gave him a forced trip to the locker room. KG was a walking Tommy Point last night. I really hope they downgrade that to a flagrant 1 foul. He was going for the ball and they've let teams (especially the Nets) get away with much harder fouls on the Celtics without calling them even flagrant fouls. He doesn't have to score a point and he can change the whole game. His defense is infectious too. Teammates automatically pick it up when they see him playing so hard. Danny needs to get any thoughts of trading him out of his head. This kid's a player and I love how he's not afraid to mix it up inside. Eventually, he'll get more respect from the refs and be allowed to get away with more and maybe eventually finish a game without 6 fouls. It probably should have been a flagrant 1, but he was going for the ball when he hit Hansbrough in the head. They have let teams get away with harder fouls than that on the Celtics and not call them flagrant 2. I just wish the officiating was a little more consistent. And I love the chemistry between Tommy and Mike. Mike keeps it even while Tommy is all Celtics. That's what makes them such a good team. Discussing whether the KG foul was flagrant... Tommy: "What do you think?" Mike: "I think it was a flagrant foul."
