Portland Trail Blazers
New York Knicks
As the 4th quarter began last night, I just had that feeling. After six seasons of watching this Celtics team, I just knew that there was a classic 'gut-check road win' brewing. That Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett were going to make all the right plays, Doc would draw up a big play or two in crunch time, and the Celtics would walk out of Portland with their first good road win of the Post-Rondo era. Part of it was the way Pierce and KG looked all night, you could see the determination from the very outset. The C's hadn't won a road game against a good team (despite Portland's sub .500 record, they are a legitimately talented NBA team) since the January 7th "Honey Nut Cheerios" win in New York City. It had bee nearly two months since they had gone into a talented opponents house and knocked them off in front of their fans, and boy could you see that desperation in the play of Pierce and Garnett. Pierce went for 23 points, 8 assists and 7 rebounds on 9-16 ...

rajon Rajon Rondo has a lot of free time these days. While he waits for the torn ACL in his right knee to heal, the Celtics point guard is chasing his second love: Demolishing kids at board games.
Rondo is a maniacal Connect Four player, according to a profile by Lee Jenkins in this week’s Sports Illustrated, as an unfortunate child in Dorchester, Mass., discovered. The story relays...
Jim Racalto Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo has a mysterious persona. We don’t really know much about him or his personal life. What we do know is that on the basketball court, he is like a heat-seeking missile, able to throw an array of pinpoint passes that get his teammates easy buckets. Thanks to a revealing interview from Lee Jenkins of Sports Illustrated ,...
Here’s another crazy thing that you would have never thought Rajon Rondo would do, but could totally imagine doing.
From SB Nation:
The Celtics didn’t want to change Rondo when he arrived, but they didn’t want to him either. So at charity foundations he perched behind a folding table where he could avoid the back-slapping, baby-hugging and other standard forms of celebrity...
On April 2nd 2010 Rajon Rondo threw a lob alley-oop pass to Kevin Garnett for a dunk which established a new franchise single-season record for assists, passing arguably the greatest point guard of all-time Bob Cousy, and thus linking their careers forever. The record breaking doesn’t stop there, on June 6th 2012 Rondo passed Cousy with 39 career playoff games of 10 or more assists...
Even as he sits out the rest of the season with a torn ACL, Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo remains one of the most interesting characters in the NBA. One of Rondo’s [...]
Washed up. Over the hill. On the decline.
Those are just a few of the adjectives used to describe Boston Celtics’ captain Paul Pierce these days.
But while the 14-year veteran might just laugh them off as nonsensical banter, his stat line suggests otherwise.
Through 57 games for the Celtics, Pierce is averaging 18.5 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.5 assists in over 33.9 minutes per...
The Blazers had lost seven straight going into tonight’s game, but Wesley freakin’ Matthews made sure that’s where the streak would end. The C’s got big games out of Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett, but those two didn’t get a ton of help. They drop a very winnable game 92-86.
The Truth came to play. After early foul trouble, Pierce carried the Celtics and...
The Boston Celtics have retired more jersey numbers than any other professional sports team in the USA with a count of 21. And according to co-owner Wyc Grousbeck, it looks like both #34 and #5 will be added to the rafters when Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett retire in the near future.
In an interview with WEEI.com, Grousbeck said this about Pierce:
“We’re going to retire...
The Celtics return home with a less then stellar performance form their five game western road trip. They ended with a 2-5 record that shows the very real perilous position that they are in. The trade deadline saw no significant changes to a team that still finds itself overburdened and underwhelming with the names that are currently on the roster.
In order for the Celtics to...
As if there were really any doubt, Celtics fans can rest assured that No. 34 and No. 5 will indeed hang from the rafters of the TD Garden one day, along with the numbers worn by rest of the Celtics’ all-time greats.
Wyc Grousbeck, managing partner and co-owner of the Celtics, confirmed Tuesday that Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett, future Hall of Famers who helped bring a 17th NBA...
The young guns, specifically Avery Bradley, kept the C’s in this one, and the vets finished it off. Despite weary legs and some lapses in defense, Boston gets a gutsy 110-107 win in OT in Utah. Paul Pierce took the game over late, hitting clutch shot after clutch shot in the 4th and the OT. Pierce was 3 of 3 in overtime, and 5 of 9 for 55% in the 4th & OT. His partner in...
Not getting easier
The Portland Trail Blazers have lost seven straight games, and while the Boston Celtics aren’t what they used to be, they’re still a tough opponent for a young Rip City squad.

The Boston Celtics sat Kevin Garnett Saturday and still easily defeated the Phoenix Suns -- thanks to Jeff Green.
The fifth-year forward dominated, making 11-of-14 shots, including three 3-pointers, for 31 points. He added a full stat line of seven rebounds, four assists, two steals and five blocks in 39 minutes. It was a dominant performance, but one that we've come to expect...
Zach Randolph does not have a reputation for being a nice guy on the court. He is especially unkind to opposing big men who stand between him and the hoop.
The Grizzlies forward does have respect for a select few true low-post players, which he thinks are a dying breed in the NBA. Randolph joined Bill Simmons of Grantland for an interview that touched on many topics, including which...
I don't know about you guys, but I am quickly moving on from tonight's loss in Portland. In my opinion, it was a loss that was bound to happen. I could care less about it. Tomorrow night they will visit the Jazz in the final game of their road trip. Here are the five things they must do to win in Utah:
5. HAVE BRADLEY GET HOT:
Avery Bradley has slowly gotten more and more...
