Year after year, Paul Pierce has been a foundational rock for the Boston Celtics. Throughout his career, he has filled a myriad of roles and willed his team to wins in the clutch, but his game has evolved over time. Always a crafty player, "The Truth" has fine-tuned his post game, hesitation dribble, ball fakes, step-backs, and jump shot in order to stay competitive despite his waning athleticism. This season, the Celtics Captain has been utilized in an unprecedented amount of screen plays, contributing to his high 3-point percentage and perhaps his relatively low field goal percentage (more jump shots means more misses). This article breaks down his scoring plays over the last 4 years. Doc Rivers has wisely developed a new system to limit wear and tear on Pierce's body, as well as Kevin Garnett's, in order to keep the 2 veterans fresh and effective. Though Pierce can't get to the rim as easily as he could in his prime, he can still put pressure on the defens...

Your Morning Dump… Where Paul Pierce has equal opportunity swagger

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. He submitted a forgettable first half against the younger, quicker, more agile Thunder. But, when the third quarter started, the captain stamped his imprint on the game, ripping off seven straight points (a fallaway...

Comments from the Other Side - Magic 11/26

Surprised to see so much Big Baby hate.  I've felt that the Celtics got the best of the deal but I though Baby was doing pretty well there.  Guess not.   A lot of ref complaints but I thought the refs missed stuff on both sides but didn't favor either.  Of course, what would a CFTOS be without a Paul Pierce wheelchair reference?  My favorite comments are in bold. ...

Paul Pierce dropped by Jameer Nelson's move

Ooohhhh....

Here’s Jameer Nelson hitting Paul Pierce with a crossover that sends him to the ground

Paul Pierce had a good game in their 116-110 overtime victory over the Magic Sunday night. But while Pierce poured in 23 points on the offensive end, all we want to talk about is how he almost lost a leg on the defensive end to a crossover dribble from Magic guard Jameer Nelson. Gotta move those feet, Paul. The post Here’s Jameer Nelson hitting Paul Pierce with a crossover that...

Pierce hits the key shot in Celtics' OT victory

ORLANDO - Paul Pierce missed a potential game-winning shot in regulation, but he didn't miss in overtime, hitting the key three-pointer that propelled the Boston Celtics to a 116-110 victory over the Orlando Magic Sunday night. Pierce, the 10-time All-Star, scored 23 points and hit the only shot he took in the extra period with 2:10 remaining, igniting a final charge and giving...

Experience wins in Celtics OT win

Paul Pierce has done this a million times. Early in games, late in games, in the middle, it does not matter when. Pierce knows exactly how to finish things off and how to brush off any failures. When he stepped into a wide-open 3-pointer with 2:10 left in overtime to break a 108-108 tie, it was old hat for him. For the Magic, it is not quite second nature to win these close games...

Jameer Nelson Snaps Old Man Paul Pierce’s Ankles Clean Off

Jameer Nelson pulled off one of the most simple non-crossovers I have seen in quite sometime, and it sent Paul Pierce tumbling to the ground. Check out how Pierce’s legs just buckled underneath him as Jameer created more than space. Paul was forced to pick up his jock-strap following the embarrassment. And yes, Jameer missed the shot. Celtics 108, Thunder 100

Paul Pierce scored 22 of his 27 points in the second half and the Boston Celtics snapped a two-game losing streak by beating the Oklahoma City Thunder 108-100 on Friday night. Kevin Garnett had 18 points and nine rebounds for the Celtics, who led by as many as 14 in the second half and held on after the Thunder cut it to three points with under 2 minutes remaining. Rajon Rondo had...

Jameer Nelson Teaches Paul Pierce How To Sit Down

Fantastic crossover by the one time all star point guard, Jameer Nelson.  Unfortunately, you need to sink the basket or at least take the ball to the hole if you are going to leave your defender looking like he just had his leg chopped off by a zombie.  Or a fat person falling and not getting up. In related news, the Orlando Magic almost beat the Celtics in this game.  That...

Video: Highlights of Kris Joseph's 28 point D-League debut

A lot of people aren't that high on Joseph, because he doesn't have the Sportcenter athleticism, but I like the kid and I think he has an NBA future. So far Jospeh has played well in Summer League, preseason, and now in the D-League. I like how he filled out the stat sheet yesterday (8 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks, and 2 steals, to go along with the 28 points). I would...

Magic lose lead late, fall to Celtics in overtime

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- Kevin Garnett had 24 points and 10 rebounds, Paul Pierce added 23 points and Rajon Rondo was one rebound shy of a triple double with 15 points and 16 assists as the Boston Celtics outlasted the Orlando Magic 116-110 in overtime Sunday night. The Celtics won their second straight and earned their sixth consecutive win over the Magic. They return home Wednesday...

Notes From TD Banknorth Garden: Wait, She Just Got Hit With A Hot Dog?

Every year I try to make it to the Garden as many times as I can to watch the Celtics play. Basketball, more so than any other sport in my opinion, is so much fun to watch in person. To be able to see first hand just how much bigger, stronger and faster these players are than us “normals” is the only way I think you can truly appreciate what happens night in and night out...
