The Celtics took a long, hot piss on my preview optimism tonight. They had an early 6 point lead, but they relaxed late in the quarter to let Detroit cut the lead to 2, and then they took the rest of the night off. C’s fall to Detroit… DETROIT!!!!…. 103-83
The Green: Rondo got his 10th assists with less than a minute to go in the game. If there was any question as...
We are approaching that wonderful time of year when advanced stats and analysis become most useful. The sample size is large enough to show patterns, but the patterns don’t have to hold for the rest of the season because there are still so many games left. So no stats-heavy article written at this time of year should be calling for drastic changes and overhauls (unless that article...
For all the Celtics fans hoping to keep up with Fab Melo and Kris Joseph as they play with the Red Claws, according to ESPN, the NBA will broadcast almost all of its D-League games this season live on YouTube.
They will be broadcasting 350 of 400 total regular-season games in high definition on the D-League YouTube channel and through a YouTube video player on NBA.com.
You learn something new every day. Jason Terry learned his shooting technique from George "Ice Man" Gervin. Wow!
And here is Iceman explaining how he got his nickname and the origin of his famous finger roll.

WALTHAM, Mass. — Doc Rivers saw a change in Darko Milicic a few weeks ago, almost as soon as the veteran center found out that his mother was ill. It was one thing for Milicic to deal with some professional setbacks with the Celtics, having played a grand total of five minutes all season. Adding personal angst made it even tougher.
“His mom’s sick, he’s not playing, the homesickness...
Pistons 103, Celtics 83 After an impressive 18 point win over the Raptors at the Garden on Saturday, Boston had the tables turned on them in Detroit Sunday. Despite entering the game winless at home and just 1-9 overall, the Pistons (2-9) cruised to a 20 point win over the Celtics (6-5). It was [...]
Ok, I know, there was no chance of the Boston Celtics signing Tim Duncan last offseason. He is a Spur for life and will probably go down as the best power forward to ever play this game (Kevin Garnett has a thing or two to say about that). Tim Duncan and Greg Popovich are the Tom Brady and Bill Belichick of the NBA, constant winners and always in contention. But all that...
Doc talks "Dead Man Walking" Celtics following their loss Sunday night in Detroit. More videos still to come.

8 a.m. ET: Two teams coming off discouraging losses will meet at the TD Garden for what could be an ill-tempered matchup.
The Celtics return home fresh off an embarrassing loss to the Pistons on Sunday, while the Spurs visit after suffering a loss to the Clippers that left coach Gregg Popovish embarrassed and enraged. Few teams pride themselves on consistent, professional effort...
Unable to truly grab traction at the start of the 2012-13 campaign, the Boston Celtics will get an early-season test against the reigning Western Conference champion, the Oklahoma City Thunder, on Friday.
Although the veterans of Beantown have lost a handful of games they probably shouldn’t have, they aren’t ruled out as contenders on the NBA futures.
With 25-1 odds of winning...
Boston Celtics Coach Doc Rivers gave his take on the Lakers' coaching change to Chris Russo (SirusXM's Mad Dog Radio) on Tuesday, criticizing the organization for their handling of Phil Jackson.
"I didn't like the way it was done," said Rivers. "I don't think you embarrass anybody."
After relieving Mike Brown of his coaching duties, the Lakers...
Celtics Spurs: one of my favorite NBA match-ups. One that features the two preeminent big men of the new millennia as well as two of the league's best coaches. But the similarities don't end there. Both teams feature a trio of All-Stars who have sacrificed scoring, playing time, and salary for the good of their perspective teams.
Doc Rivers has praised Gregg Popovich on...
The San Antonio Spurs (8-3) will take a trip to Boston as they face the Boston Celtics (6-5) at the TD Garden.
The Spurs are coming off a loss to the Clippers and will have to face the Celtics shorthanded. They will be without Kawhi Leonard and Stephen Jackson due to injuries thus leaving their frontcourt very thin.
The Celtics are coming off a big loss to the Pistons but...
Talk about ironic. In the top 10 assists of the week, there isn't one assist from the league's assist leader. However, #2 belongs to Kevin Garnett. Good stuff and fun to watch.

I wish I was a Lakers fan so I could be as cool as these guys. I never thought of wearing my sunglasses inside and constantly taking them on and off while holding my crotch. I'm gonna have to start doing that. We Celtics fans really need to start upping our swag factor so we can be as cool as fans like this.
