PLAYERS: Derrick Rose
TEAMS: Chicago Bulls

Via Los That Sports Blog:

Derrick Rose is a passionate and one of the most humble players in the NBA. The Chicago Bulls point guard and former MVP always makes it a priority to thank those who give praise to those who have helped him get to where he’s at and doesn’t appear to have let success get to his head.

Thursday during the launch for Rose’s third signature Adidas brand basketball shoe the ‘D Rose 3‘, Rose broke into tears on the stage after a video of his recovery from knee surgery. (Rose's reaction to the movie starts around the 0:50 mark).

''It's truly a blessing with all the stuff that is going on in the city,'' said Rose, a product of the tough Englewood neighborhood on Chicago's South Side. ''A kid from Englewood's got something positive going on. That makes me feel so good. ... To have my true fans, that means a lot to me and I know it means a lot to my family.''

Adidas has been releasing a web series chronicling Rose’s rehab of an ACL injury suffered in last season’s playoffs and clearly watching the video was overwhelming for him.

Given the emotion Rose displays, it’s difficult not to root for him to make a full recovery and return to the NBA better than ever. Best of luck to Rose in his rehab.

MLB pitcher loses bet, forced to dress like Tony Romo

  • i wish he would STOP crying already
  • another classless moron, I wish you would respect a person who is a step ahead of the majority of the people in this world when it comes to showing how they feel about overcoming obstacles in life. Must be a heatless fan, they are completely classless.
  • It's bad enough that he missed the entire season but had to endure watching Mario Chaulmers win the title with Miami. ..Especially after losing to Mario in the ncaa championship when the senior from Kansas met the freshman (1 and done) from Memphis. Classic.
  • I am a retired teacher from Simeon. I didn't have Derrick for class but saw him in the halls as well as his mother and brothers quite often. What a fine young man. It is truly a blessing to be in a such a high profile postion but real sports fans realize the pressures and responsibilities that come with success as well. My family and I love watching Derrick and the Bulls and look forward to his return. We pray for you and wish you well.
  • I admire the fact that not only is Derrick an amazing player, but to see him not afraid to show his emotions. Just shows that there are still people out there that can be admired not only for his achievements on the court but off as well. I applaud you Derrick for being a real person that I can say I am proud to have my son look up to. Having the ability to play can be overlooked, however it is times like you have endured with your rehabilitation that show the true heart of a champion. God bless and we look forward to seeing you back on the court.
