The future of the Arizona Cardinals looks very good. After starting the year 1-6, Arizona went 7-2 in its last nine games.

In the process some players did very well and got very little recognition around the league.

And did not play up to what experts and fans say they did. Let’s look at the most overrated and underrated players on the Arizona Cardinals' roster.

Underrated: DE Calais Campbell - Campbell is one of the best defensive ends in the league today and receives little or no recognition for it. He tallied eight sacks, 72 tackles, and two forced fumbles this past year playing in a 3-4 as a DE. There are three reasons why Campbell receives little credit.

One is that he is playing a 3-4 defense where DEs cannot rack up stats like those in a 4-3. The second reason is that he plays across from a highly-touted DE in Darnell Docket. And three, he plays in Arizona where many players get little credit due to the small market. But that did not change the fact that Calais cashed in on a huge payday recently where he will received $55M over the next five years with $31M of that guaranteed.

Overrated: QB John Skelton - It is ridiculous to me that Skelton is being talked about starting Week 1. His 6-2 record is very misleading. Two of those wins were against the worst team in the NFL, the Rams. Where in one of the games he posted a 30 QB rating and Arizona only won due to Beanie Wells and his 228 yards that day.

The other was won more by Peterson than Skelton where he had a 99-yard punt return to win the game. He played average against Philadelphia. Then played horribly at San Francisco where he threw three interceptions and completed 6 out of 19 passes.

At home against the 49ers he played decent but he had a lot of help from Fitzgerald and company. Against Cleveland he played average at best. Versus Cincinnati he was horrible and put us in a hole. Then when he played Seattle he once again was average at best. The fact that some want him starting, and not Kolb, is ridiculous.

Underrated: SS Adrian Wilson - Adrian Wilson is on the same lines of another great SS Troy Polamalu. Even if the stats may not show it Wilson was as good as ever this past year and I expect more of the same for a while. Wilson is a fierce run defender and any player in this league will tell you that.

His pass coverage skills are very underrated and if you watched him this past year you would see how well he performs at it. And he is also a big leader that keeps the Cardinals' young defense in check game after game and is a great mentor and makes his teammates better. He is also the Cardinals' most valuable player on defense.

Overrated: K Jay Feely - For some reason Jay Feely is a top 10 kicker. Not from what I saw last year. Going 19 for 24 is very average yet people still regard him highly. If this was a year ago he would be a top 10 kicker. But after this past year he really regressed and is not worthy of that notion. Hopefully Jay Feely can come back and be what he was in the 2010 season when he hit 24 out of 27 field goals.
