The Arizona Cardinals have announced that starting quarterback John Skelton will miss the next 2-4 weeks with a low ankle sprain that he suffered during the team’s season opening win over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. Skelton went down after a less than stellar performance in his first three quarters of play, and he has to be the lest bit worried that even when he does come back, he may not regain his starting job. That will all depend on how Kevin Kolb plays in his absence. The high priced back-up QB got off to a good start on Sunday as he led the Cardinals to a come-from-behind victory after filling in for Skelton late in the game. Skelton was just 14/28 for 149 yards. He threw no touchdowns and was intercepted once. Kolb, however, came in and went 6/8 on the game winning drive while throwing the winning TD to Andre Roberts late in the fourth quarter. The next couple of games will determine who leads the Cardinals in the huddle going forward. With what they gave up to acquire Ko...

Arizona Cardinals: A Second Chance for Kevin Kolb

I’ve been well put on the record here on the Pigskin Report in my beliefs that Kevin Kolb, despite playing for my beloved Alma mater at the University of Houston, is not a starting quarterback in this league. But after starting Sunday as an overpaid backup and finishing as an unsung hero, he has the chance to prove me, and many others, dead wrong. After getting beat out for...

Kolb leads Arizona to victory in relief duty

There's good news and bad news for Arizona Cardinals fans. On the bright side, the Cardinals got the win in their season opener against the Seahawks. Kolb saves Cardinals, gets 'poetic' redemption

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Adrian Wilson had an agenda when he reached the postgame podium Sunday at University of Phoenix Stadium. I want to talk about Kevin Kolb, Wilson said. Lets talk about how poetic that was. Those who watched the entirety of the Cardinals 20-16 victory over the Seahawks might have chosen a different term. But Kolbs relief effort in place of injured starter John...

Kolb comes off bench to lead Cardinals to victory

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Kevin Kolb lost his job and with it, probably a lot of confidence, too. But if he did, he didn't show it Sunday when he was pressed into action for the Arizona Cardinals. John Skelton, who beat out Kolb for the starting quarterback job despite making just $500,000 compared to the $20 million the Cardinals have already invested in Kolb in a little more than...

Cardinals-Patriots Preview

The New England Patriots reached the Super Bowl last season despite a shaky defense, but that unit could be drastically improved if Week 1 is any indication. Tom Brady's offense, meanwhile, appears as potent as ever. The Patriots aim for another impressive all-around showing Sunday in their home opener against the Arizona Cardinals, who seem likely to have Kevin Kolb under...
