OAKLAND, CA - AUGUST 11: Offensive lineman Levi Brown #75 of the Arizona Cardinals warms up before a game against the Oakland Raiders on August 11, 2007 at McAfee Coliseum in Oakland, California. (Photo by Greg Trott/Getty Images)

While Michael Vick may get all of the press, the preseason has been unkind to more than just star quarterbacks. The Arizona Cardinals also received a huge blow when news emerged that starting left tackle and former Penn Stater Levi Brown tore his tricep and could be out for all of 2012.

The former All-Big-Ten lineman underwent surgery to repair a torn right triceps tendon on Tuesday morning, according to AZCentral.com. The article also reveals that the Cardinals are waiting to see the results of the surgery before they make any decisions regarding IR or any potential season-ending moves.

Brown suffered the injury in the 2nd quarter of Arizona’s second preseason game on Friday night.

Recovery from such an injury will take a minimum of 3 months, and could be longer. If he is able to make it back this season, his return would come in early December in a best-case scenario, so the Cardinals may not even take a chance with keeping him on PUP, considering their season will probably be done come December 30th.

While his on-the-field performance has fluctuated throughout his career, one thing that has remained consistent has been his ability to stay on the field. He has started every single game for the Cards over the past 4 seasons. Considering he’s been in the league for 5 years, that’s about as rugged as a lineman can be.

Luckily for Brown, he signed a long-term deal with Arizona back in March, which will keep him there through 2017.
