After the Detroit Lions went a disappointing 4-12 last season, they will need to step up as a team to bounce back this season. Of course, we all know it’s a given that Calvin Johnson will have another great season barring any injuries. I also expect Reggie Bush to have a great season in his first year as a Lion. He’s going to be a big threat coming out of the backfield both as a running back and as a receiver. These are the players that are to be expected to play big this year, but who will be the break out star? Well, this may not be too daring an answer, but it’s going to be first round pick Ezekiel “Ziggy” Ansah. Although, he was a bit of a gamble, I see him breaking out for an amazing season. Ansah was drafted by the Detroit Lions, in the first round, with the fifth overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. At the NFL combine he measured a 34.5 inch vertical jump and a recorded a 4.63 seconds 40 yard dash. He also has size at 6’5”, 271 lbs. What helps his case is that he is playing wi...
BEST OF MAXIM
When the Detroit Lions took the field against the New England Patriots, Detroit’s quarterbacks were determined to show that last week’s farce in Cleveland was merely a hiccup and not a sign of things to come. But Shaun Hill was to be held out of the game, so for Kellen Moore a little extra was on the line. When the bell rang, he came out fighting.
Moore is not only battling...
After losing Kevin Kolb to an injury the Bills went on a signing spree of quarterbacks. Today the Bills signed former 2006 1st round quarterback Matt Lienart. Well just when you thought things were over, Bills traded for QB Thadieus Lewis. Thaddieus Lewis is a big strong armed quarterback from Duke University. I will update […]
NEED FOR SPEED
Reggie Bush nearly broke a short pass for a touchdown against the Patriots, but he was angry he got caught after a 67-yard gain.
Jim Schwartz of the Detroit Lions has to be ready to gnaw his own leg off. But that would probably be after he chewed on the posterior of DE Willie Young. Players are like grand kids; if one isn’t dumping the potty chair contents onto the bathroom floor, the other is pouring maple syrup on top of the dog.
Schwartz and several team mates were visibly irritated by Young’s...
The Detroit Lions used a fourth-round draft pick on Ronnell Lewis last year.
Rather, they wasted one.
Lewis, an undersized 6-foot-2, 253-pound defensive end, is one of four players released Sunday by the Lions to cut their roster to 80 players. The club must trim down to 75 by Tuesday at 4 p.m.
The other players who failed to make the most recent cut were safety Chris Hope, cornerback...
As a Detroit Lions fan I am very familiar with the personnel and the offensive scheme.
The Lions have one legit WR, he just happens to be the best in the game. They cannot run the ball, period. Their offense consists of Stafford taking the snap in the shotgun position, looking for CJ down field and then dumping off to the RB.
This gameplan could result in Reggie breaking...
Jason La Canfora reports that the Detroit Lions are in the process of making calls to acquire a starting-caliber wide receiver.
Many expected second-year receiver Ryan Broyles to setup and be the team’s No. 2 wideout this season, but he was running with the second-team offense during Thursday’s preseason game.
Detroit still has veteran Nate Burleson and second-year WR Patrick...
The Detroit Lions released WR Chaz Schilens, CB Domonique Johnson, OT Derek Hardman, DL John Drew, and DB Ross Weaver on Friday. With teams getting closer and closer to the regular season, we are going to start seeing a flood of activity from every team cutting their rosters.
The most notable name of the bunch was Chaz Schilens who previously held stints with the Raiders and Jets...
ALLEN PARK, Mich. Willie Young Mr. August taunting a future Hall of Fame quarterback.
Whats wrong with that picture?
Young, a defensive end for the Detroit Lions who was a star in the preseason last year but a flop in the regular season, wouldnt disclose what he said late in the first half of Thursdays exhibition game to draw a personal-foul penalty or why he did it.
Training camp and the preseason were good to the Detroit Lions. They came out of it with a nice idea of the strengths and weaknesses of the position groups and most importantly, healthy. Though the preseason isn’t over, training camp is done and it is time to analyze what it means going forward to the regular season.5. Rookies will play a contributing roll this season. The preseason...
Detroit defensive end Willie Young says he'll avoid penalties that hurt his team after taunting New England quarterback Tom Brady.
Young's taunt resulted in a 15-yard penalty in the Lions' 40-9 win against the Patriots in a preseason game on Thursday night.
After hurrying Brady into an incompletion in the New England end zone, Young grabbed Brady by the collar and said...
