LeBron James has made a pretty nice career for himself, winning back-to-back NBA championships and collecting four regular-season MVPs. But would the Miami Heat superstar be as dominant if he took his talents to the NFL?

Dez Bryant certainly thinks so.

In a discussion with ESPNDallas.com, the Dallas Cowboys' mercurial receiver said the 6-foot-8, 250 pound James would be a "beast" in the NFL, an impact player at either receiver or tight end.

"That dude is just that talented," said Bryant. "I think it would take him probably about a good two weeks to get very acquainted with football, knowing what he's supposed to do. I think that's all he'd need with his physical ability.

"I've seen a little bit of his highlights from high school. He's got the hands, he can run the routes, he's fast enough. He could play in this league if he put it all together."

James is an admitted Cowboys fan who played receiver up until his senior year at St. Vincent-St. Mary's. Bryant knows the potential is already there.

"All he'd need to do is probably work on a little technique," Bryant said. "It's not like he's never played football before. He has played football. I think he'd be a beast in the red zone. I think he could do it. I think he could do it, seriously."

Although James is highly unlikely to make a Michael Jordan or Bo Jackson-like career switch, this is not the first time the topic has been brought up. Back in 2011, Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll designed a custom-made jersey for LeBron, who, at the time, hinted about signing as an NFL free agent. Also, plenty of analysts, reporters, and bloggers have long discussed how much of an impact James, a world-class athlete, would have in pro football.

It's fascinating to imagine, but, unfortunately for sports fans, the event will never materialize. Bryant will just have to settle for being the big man in Big D.
