IRVING – Thanks to Snickers, Leon Lett is cashing in on his blunder that cost the Cowboys a loss to the Dolphins in the 1993 Thanksgiving Day game.
The candy bar company recently teamed with NFL Films to create a fun documentary about Lett’s error.
“It’s still kind of tough, but we had a great time shooting the video,” Lett told Dallas’ CBS affiliate. “It’s the first time I did anything like this. A lot of my former teammates participated in it. It was really awesome.”
With the clock winding down on a rare snowy day at Cowboys Stadium, the Dolphins lined up for a 41-yard field goal with 15 seconds left and trailing 14-13 on Nov. 25, 1993. Dallas blocked the attempt, but Lett slipped into the dead ball while trying to grab it, making it live again. Miami recovered and kicked a field goal with 3 seconds left, handing Dallas a heartbreaking 16-14 loss.
