PLAYERS: Jason Garrett
TEAMS: Dallas Cowboys

It has been an off-season that Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett likely can't wait to be over. Some were calling for his head after a disappointing '12 campaign. That never appeared to enter into owner Jerry Jones's mind, but Jones did see fit to set the stage for Garett's ouster should the team stumble again in '13 by stripping him of play calling duties for the offense. Garett has to know what that means and has been clearly upset by it, especially since it took months for the little controversy to play out in the media. So it would be understandable if he was a bit unhappy with where he is right now. Maybe, just maybe he saw the changes coming a long time ago; even before the '12 season was officially over. If so that could be why he didn't offer up what he did for a living when he had a conversation with actress Olivia Munn back during Super Bowl week in New Orleans. Miss Munn recently shared a story with SI.com about meeting and sp...

Actress Olivia Munn on meeting Jason Garrett: Took him 30 minutes to say he's Cowboys head coach

Jason Garrett apparently isn't the type of NFL head coach who goes around bragging about what he does for a living. An example of his modesty was on display when the Dallas Cowboys coach met actress Olivia Munn in February at an event during Super Bowl weekend in New Orleans. Munn, who stars in HBO's "The Newsroom," is an Oklahoma City native who attended the...

Cowboys’ cornerbacks may not be suited for DC Monte Kiffin’s ‘Tampa 2’

In 2012, the Cowboys acquired cornerback Brandon Carr in free agency and Morris Claiborne via the draft so they have corners who can play man coverage. However, in the offseason, they gutted their 3-4 defense run by Rob Ryan and went out and hired Cover 2 guru Monte Kiffin as their defensive coordinator. Carr and Claiborne are not a good fit for the Cover 2 scheme, which will...

Cowboys’ Barry Church says he’s 95 percent healthy

Cowboys safety Barry Church told DallasCowboys.com that he’s “95 percent” recoverd from last year’s Achilles injury. Church was asked what his goals are this season. “Me personally, I would like to make the Pro Bowl,” Church said. “I feel like I was on my way last year before I got injured. This year, I feel like if I could withstand the whole season, I have a good...

Nate Newton has some words of advice for Johnny Manziel.

Guess Who? Former Dallas Cowboys offensive lineman Nate Newton was interviewed on a Dallas-area radio last week, and was asked about Texas A&M starting quarterback Johnny Manziel. Newton said Manziel needed to try to be like "an everyday guy." This kid right now is just flying off the handle. He’s still living in that world of – he got instant success...

Dallas Cowboys Position Outlook: Safety

Barry Church-Courtesy of ESPN Perhaps the biggest question marks exist entering the 2013 season for the Dallas Cowboys at the safety position. This position was a huge weakness in 2012, and still remains an immediate weakness for the Cowboys. With the switch to Monte Kiffin’s Cover 2, corners Brandon Carr and Morris Claiborne will be relied upon to play much more man-coverage,...

Cowboys add DT Jerome Long to 90-man roster

The Dallas Cowboys added a defensive tackle to their 90-man roster on Monday. According to DallasCowboys.com, Jerome Long, a seventh-round draft pick by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2012, takes the open spot that was created when the Cowboys released defensive end Anthony Hargrove on Thursday. Long was signed off the Chiefs' practice squad by the Jacksonville Jaguars in December...

New York High School Coach Comes Out As Gay

This is via Deadspin, and it’s pretty great. That snazzily dressed smurf is 35 year old Anthony Nicodemo of Yonkers, NY. Believed to be the first openly gay High School coach in the area, he recently told his team the news in a closed-door meeting, and their supposed reaction was “positive, and somewhat indifferent.” I’d say that’s a pretty good step in the right direction...
