Yes, it was only the first preseason game but we still learned a few things.  Here are the five most important things we learned:5. Rex Ryan doesn't have time to watch the offenseNow, that could explain a whole lot.  When asked about the interception Mark Sanchez tossed in the first quarter, the head coach replied "he never saw it"?  Does that philosophy apply to the 52 turnovers Sanchez has had in the last two seasons? Does Ryan have a head defensive coordinator position set up already for next season?4. Geno Smith does not lack for confidenceGeno Smith left the game in the third quarter when he injured his right ankle.  Today the MRI's have come back negative. Smith was 6-of-7 for 47 yards before leaving the game.  When asked to assess his night, Smith replied, "I think I played exceptionally well." Did Ryan see that?3. Mark Sanchez is, well, Mark SanchezOn the first drive in his first preseason game of 2013 Mark Sanchez threw an interception to Detroit Lions' rookie Ziggy Ansah.  Don't misunderstand me.  Sanchez threw the pass directly to Ansah.  But don't worry all the commentators tell you because Sanchez rebounded with a touchdown drive that culminated in a touchdown pass to Jeff Cumberland.Last year Sanchez threw 18 interceptions.  For the past two years Sanchez has had 52 turnovers.  Sanchez is in a quarterback competition but don't worry Gang Green Nation, Sanchez's interception was coupled with a touchdown drive.  2. Greg McElroyHead coach Rex Ryan has stated earlier that Greg McElroy is only competiting for the number three position against Matt Simms.  Really?1. Running Back CarouselThe ground and pound may have to be re-named.  Perhaps the "Search for the Missing"?  The first preseason game did not illuminate any running back depth chart.  Between no-shows and injuries the running back game is becoming more questionable than the quarterback competition. Is learning really all that great?Follow me on Twitter @neverenoughglt
