Peyton Manning has been doing his job for a long time, but the past year has to have been the hardest of his brilliant career. Overcoming two neck surgeries within a year, extensive rehabilitation, and leaving his longtime home Indianapolis for Denver had to be challenging. Manning doesn't want to hear excuses, he hasn't made any; and because of that, the Broncos sit in first place in late November. The loss of Willis McGahee put a strain on the Broncos running game, and they are looking at Knowshon Moreno as being part of the answer. "It's a great opportunity for Knowshon," Manning said, according to Mike Klis of the Denver Post.. "He hasn't played, but he will be a part of it. It's going to be a three-man committee. Hey, this is the NFL. You are kind of used to where it doesn't matter what year you are or how old you are. If you're on an NFL roster, you're expected to go in there and contribute and do your job," Moreno has been an underachiever since coming into the NFL. He was drafted by the Broncos with the 12th overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. In 2011, Moreno split playing time with Willis McGahee and soon lost the starting job due to McGahee's performance. Moreno averaged a career-high 4.8 yards per carry. His season was cut short on November 15, 2011 when the Broncos placed him on the IR after he tore his ACL against the Kansas City Chiefs. In 2012, Moreno had fallen out of favor with the Broncos coaching staff, and has been inactive for the last 8 games. He has 8 attempts for 15 yards and 1 touchdown. var switchTo5x=true; stLight.options({publisher:''});
