New Orleans Saints tight end Josh Hill is now recovering from an injury that sounds like absolutely no fun.

Nick Underhill of The Advocate reports Hill underwent surgery to fix the ring finger of his left hand, which was locked at a 90-degree angle.

In short: No, thanks.

Though it’s unclear how long Hill played through the injury, he made a considerable impact during the playoffs. Hill caught four passes for 49 yards and a touchdown in a win over the Carolina Panthers and three balls for 54 yards during the loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

Underhill notes Hill is expected to return in time for the offseason program, and that’s an important time for the tight end. New Orleans is likely to release Coby Fleener, who hasn’t panned out. The Saints would save $3.2 million by cutting him.

As long as Hill is healthy, he’ll probably be the starter next season. And all 10 of his fingers should be straight again, too.
