Titus Young’s father shed some light on what is going on mentally with his son that led to the troubled former Detroit Lions wide receiver being arrested three times in less than a week. Young’s father, Richard, told The Detroit News that his son has a brain disorder and that the young man has not been taking his prescription medication. Richard Young told The News that his son “suffers from a disorder caused by his brain being compressed into the front of his skull,” but he couldn’t remember the disorder’s name at the time. Richard Young told both The News and the Detroit Free Press that the issue is related to a concussion Young supposedly suffered during his rookie season. The News points out that the Lions never listed that as an injury for Young. Young’s father told the Free Press his son has sought treatment in Texas and in Newport Beach and Malibu. He says his son was prescribed Seroquel but wasn’t taking it regularly. Seroquel is used to treat depression and bipolar disorder. Richard says he and his son went to get coffee and doughnuts on Friday and had a good conversation. When they got back home, Titus said he left something in the car and never returned. He was arrested later that night for allegedly breaking into a home and then assaulting a police officer. Before he was arrested, police were called twice because Young allegedly exhibited odd behavior in the San Clemente area. The owner of the home where Young broke in told KTLA he loaded his shotgun and was threatening to shoot Young if he did not leave.
