The 49ers announced that they have signed LT Joe Staley to a two-year contract extension on Thursday.
Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports that Staley’s new extension is fairly complex as it adds two option years at a total of $18.8 million to his previous agreement.
Staley’s deal can be worth $23.3 million if he reaches incentives, according to Rapoport.
Bill Williamson of ESPN.com is “hearing whispers” that there is still a chance that the 49ers could work out a long-term contract for LT Joe Staley.
Williamson adds that Staley is still expected to play out his contract, even without a new contract.
