ST. PAUL, Minn. The Minnesota Wild keep adding young talent to their system. Minnesota announced Thursday it has signed goaltender Johan Gustafsson to an entry-level contract just in front of the June 1 deadline to reach a deal with the young Swedish netminder. Drafted in the sixth round of the 2010 draft, Gustafsson had to be signed by June 1 or the team would have lost his rights.Gustafsson, 20, is the fifth player from the Wild's 2010 draft class to sign a contract joining forwards Mikael Granlund, Brett Bulmer, Johan Larsson and Jason Zucker. Minnesota also avoided the deadline with Granlund, signing the ninth-overall pick in the 2010 draft to a deal last week. Second-round picks Bulmer, Larsson and Zucker had all previously agreed to deals. Bulmer and Zucker each got the chance to suit up for the Wild this past season.Playing in Sweden's Elite League this past season, Gustafsson posted a 1.68 goals-against-average and a .932 save percentage for Lulea HF, which finished with the best record in the regular season. The 6-foot-1, 187-pound Gustafsson also was in net for Sweden at the 2012 World Junior Championships, leading the team to a gold medal with a 5-0 record, 2.20 goals-against-average and .888 save percentage. Larsson joined Gustafsson on the gold-medal team.Gustafsson is another young piece for Minnesota, which could see as many as five of its top prospects turn pro this offseason. Gustafsson also adds to the goaltending depth, which has Niklas Backstrom with the Wild and young netminders Matt Hackett and Darcy Kuemper waiting in the wings. Due to the depth, it's possible Gustafsson could return to Sweden next season with Minnesota still holding his rights thanks to the new contract.Follow Brian Hall on Twitter.
