Ashley Cole admits he would have been sad to leave Chelsea had he not agreed a one-year contract extension with the club. The England left-back will remain at Stamford Bridge until the end of the 2013-14 season after protracted contract talks finally came to fruition. Cole is now keen to enjoy further success for Rafa Benitez's side, having won a number of major trophies, including last season's Champions League. "When you are going through this kind of thing, of course you always want to stay here but it was also in my mind that I could be leaving a club where I have great memories, and have enjoyed great times," Cole told Chelsea's official website.
