Jesse Eisenberg didn't write a speech for the EE BAFTA Awards because he "didn't think" he would win.
The 41-year-old actor wrote and starred in the comedy film 'A Real Pain' but it came as a complete surprise to him when he picked up the award for Best Original Screenplay and, he dedicated the accolade to his wife Anna Strout, even though she didn't have faith in him either.
Speaking live on stage at the Royal Festival Hall in London on Sunday (16.02.25), he said: "I didn't write anything because I didn't think I'd win! I do want to share this with my wife, who didn't come because she didn't think I'd win!
"I wanna share this with my wife because I'm not a stupid person but I'm an idiot and you know when we first started dating, she dragged me backpacking to Venezuela and ever since then she's dragged me around the world, and that's how I got to know about the world, which is what this movie is about.
"Anna, you put every worthwhile thought into my head over the last 20 years and I love you so much.
The film was up against 'Anora' 'The Brutalist 'Kneecap' and The Substance' for the prestigious award, and moments later, 'Conclave' took home the award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
The political thriller - which is based on the book by Robert Harris and stars Ralph Fiennes and Stanley Tucci - received the most nominations of the night, and fought off competition from Best Adapted Screenplay: 'A Complete Unknown' 'Emilia Pérez' 'Nickel Boys' and 'Sing Sing'.

Massive Brawl Breaks Out For The Steelers As Rookie Makes His Presence Known
The Pittsburgh Steelers are fully engulfed in training camp ahead of the 2025 season, and tempers have been flaring ever since the team put pads on for the first time on Wednesday. This is seen every year, and it also seems to be heightened when the team participates in its annual "Friday Night Lights" practice. The team always goes out to a local high school and completes a practice there in front of a stadium full of fans. Emotions are running high as it is the closest practice the players will have to a game prior to the first preseason matchup. Fights will break out during team periods, but they are also seen during individual competition. This was the case on Friday for Pittsburgh, as the team went through backs on backers as well as one-on-ones between receivers and the secondary. Backs on backers is a pass protection drill for running backs and tight ends, and they will line up across from defenders and attempt to block them. It gets chippy, and that was the case for rookie running back Kaleb Johnson and linebacker Mark Robinson. Robinson might not be a major contributor on the defense for Pittsburgh, but he is a true athletic specimen. He is fast and powerful, and that presents a pretty tall task for Johnson, who is trying to improve his pass protection. According to the reporting from insider Brian Batko, Johnson and Robinson began fighting, which turned into other players fighting from the offense and defense. It led to a fairly large brawl. Johnson was very vocal about wanting to step up his pass protection. It is the best way to see the field as a young running back in the league. Luckily for him, he is in the same room as Jaylen Warren, who is one of the top backs in the league in that regard. He can learn from his teammate, and is clearly catching onto a thing or two as he was able to beat Robinson in the rep after the fight broke out. The rookie running back still has a long way to go in pass protection, but he has been making strides throughout camp. That has certainly been because of tips he has picked up from Warren, as well as getting used to life in the NFL. He made his presence known on Friday by starting a major brawl during the drill, and then coming back a minute later to win the rep. Steelers Running Backs Wanted All The Smoke During Friday Night Lights The fight between Johnson and Robinson was not the only one. Players came rushing into the fold as a brawl broke out, and veteran running back Trey Sermon found himself in the middle of a fight with linebacker Devin Harper. It was reported by Brooke Pryor that their fight began just after the initial brawl was broken up. Those are two guys that are fighting for a spot on the final roster, so it is a bit risky to get into a brawl in the middle of practice, especially after the fight was just broken up. However, Head Coach Mike Tomlin has been known to smirk as brawls like these as they breakout during practice.
Pirates take yet another PR hit for mishandling David Bednar trade
The Pittsburgh Pirates brutally fumbled the 2025 trade deadline, even by their miserable standards. But it wasn't just the fact that their moves made little sense and did nothing to improve the short-term and long-term outlook of the franchise. It is also now about the way they handled the trade involving closer David Bednar going to the New York Yankees. Bednar revealed on Friday night during an interview with YES Network that he only found out about the trade on social media, and it took a phone call to his agent and quite a bit of time before he got the actual confirmation that he was going to the Yankees. On one hand, this is not entirely unheard of. Sometimes trade news breaks early due to a leak within somebody's front office, and on trade deadline day, teams can have their hands full trying to make deals before they run out of time. Sometimes things slip through the cracks. But it still seems like poor form for the Pirates not to have their ducks in a row when it comes to informing their player about a trade. Especially, in this case, a player like Bednar. Not only has he been one of the few bright spots on the Pirates over the past five years, but he is also from the Pittsburgh area and fully embraced being a Pirate. He loved it. He loved playing there. He wanted to play there and seemed open to staying. That is not an easy thing to find, given where the franchise has been and how consistently bad it has been over the past four decades. Outside of a tough 2024 season and some early struggles this season, he was also a wildly popular player among the fans. The Pirates also knew that to the point where owner Bob Nutting reportedly blocked a potential Bednar trade a couple of years ago. A player with that sort of standing within the organization should not have to find out about being traded through social media. They should certainly not have to have their agent track down official sources to confirm it. For most teams, and if this sort of situation were taking place in a vacuum, it may not be that big of a deal. It would probably be just a minor slip-up and footnote to the trade deadline. But the Pirates are not a normal team, and this situation is not happening in a vacuum. The Pirates have spent the entire season creating self-inflicted PR nightmares all over the place, from the Roberto Clemente tribute that was taken door for a hard seltzer ad, to the handling of Bucco Bricks outside of PNC Park, to "Sell the team" chants consistently breaking out, to the simple fact the organization has been an absolute mess on the field and one of the worst teams in baseball. Now they can add allowing a popular, fan favorite to find out about his trade through social media to the list. Even worse for Pirates fans, they seemed to get the worst value for their All-Star closer than other teams (specifically the A's and Minnesota Twins) received for their All-Star closers. This is a franchise that just simply can not do anything right.
Steelers Spark Crazy Trade Rumors After Cowboys' Micah Parsons' Prior Comments Resurface
Khan has openly said he will never pass up the chance to explore opportunities that could improve the team. On Friday, news broke that Parsons requested a trade out of Dallas. While the possibility of landing Parsons remains a long shot, this request provides Khan with a rare window to investigate whether there’s a way to bring one of the league’s most dominant pass rushers to Pittsburgh. Earlier in February 2025, Parsons spoke with former Steelers cornerback turned analyst Bryant McFadden about the Steelers. During the conversation, McFadden joked that the Steelers logo would look good on Parsons. Parsons responded playfully, saying he would love to play for Mike Tomlin, adding fuel to the speculation that a move to Pittsburgh might not be completely out of the question. "Nah, I rock with the Steelers," Parsons said. "I said if I ever return home it was going to be Pittsburgh. I mess with Mike Tomlin the long way." It’s no secret that Tomlin is one of the most popular head coaches in the NFL. Many players have expressed a strong desire to play for him, and that reputation has sometimes helped the Steelers attract top talent. A prime example of this is when the Steelers convinced four-time league MVP Aaron Rodgers to join the team, a move that energized the fanbase and boosted expectations. The idea of Parsons lining up alongside TJ Watt and the rest of Pittsburgh’s elite defense is both thrilling and intimidating. While it remains a very far-fetched possibility, Parsons’ recent comments about wanting to play for the Steelers have sparked excitement among fans. These remarks, made in 2025, add fuel to the speculation that a trade could be in the cards, even if the odds are slim. Parsons, who grew up in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, shared a message on social media Friday explaining what really led to his trade request. If Parsons has any influence over his next destination, and if Khan can work his magic, the Steelers might just have a slim but real chance to pull off a trade. Landing Parsons would instantly make Pittsburgh’s defense one of the most fearsome in NFL history, though it remains an ambitious long shot. Steelers Chances Of Trading For Micah Parsons Are Low While the thought of Parsons playing in the black and gold for the 2025 season is certainly exciting, the logistics would be very complex, though not impossible. Parsons is clearly unhappy with the Cowboys, and Jerry Jones has not helped their chances of keeping him satisfied. He officially wants out, and now is the time for Khan to see if there’s any logical way to pull off a crazy trade.
‘Malpractice’, Rich Eisen goes off on Commanders for Terry McLaurin scenario, ‘Mindboggling that you’re not going to..’
Take your pick of the most intriguing contract storyline in the NFL right now. Between Micah Parsons, Trey Hendrickson, and Terry McLaurin, there’s no shortage of strife to go around. The furthest down the track appears to be McLaurin, who has requested a trade from the Washington Commanders following a summer of seemingly extremely little progress on a long-term deal. That’s devastating news for both the franchise and Jayden Daniels, who were looking to build on last year’s NFC Championship run. NFL Analysis has already looked at potential destinations for McLaurin, but one NFL analyst can’t believe it’s even getting this far. Rich Eisen rips ‘mindboggling’ Commanders, accuses them of malpractice Speaking on his own show (called, oddly enough, The Rich Eisen Show) Eisen answered a question regarding which of the major holdouts was most likely to play in Week 1 by answering McLaurin with some very blunt reasoning. “If they don’t get him on the field, it’s…malpractice…is the only way to put it,” Eisen said. “Mindboggling, that you’re not gonna get the big target, BFF, for the unicorn in your team. ‘Jayden, you gotta make do, while we handle business’…they gotta just find a number and get it done,” ‘Big target’ might be underselling it — with Daniels, McLaurin doubled his highest touchdown total from its previous best, hauling in thirteen touchdowns in a huge year. That sent McLaurin to yet another Pro Bowl and saw him named an All-Pro for the first time, while Daniels walked away as a Pro Bowler and the NFL’s Offensive Rookie Of The Year. A mutual benefit, one might say. What happens to McLaurin may define Washington’s championship window We’ve discussed this elsewhere, but Washington not signing McLaurin long-term would probably amount to…well, malpractice. The class of Daniels has opened the team’s Super Bowl window, and luckily for the team’s roster builders, he’s on a cheap contract for the time being, as he’s only just about to enter his second year in the league. Washington ought to maximize this by getting as many key veterans around him for as long as possible. It seems odd they’ve not done it already, given they had no hesitation in moving for Laremy Tunsil this offseason to fortify their offensive line, as well as picking up potential veteran difference-makers like Von Miller. Okay, so the money for McLaurin would be significantly more, but he’s shown durability, class, and incredible play during his time in Washington, and that would seem to minimize the risk of putting a big number in his contract. If they don’t pay him and he does move on, the Commanders have relatively little else at wide receiver, too. All signs point to a deal being worked out at some point before Week 1, as Eisen suggests, but it looks as though there’ll be a lot more hurt feelings and rhetoric before then. Stay tuned…
