Fran Lebowitz thinks weed has actually become mandatory in New York City

New York legalized recreational marijuana March 31 for adults 21 years or older, and Fran Lebowitz noticed an immediate difference while walking the streets of New York City.

"I haven't taken drugs since I was 19, but I don't care what other people do at all," the 70-year-old explained on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. "But it does seem to me since it was legalized for recreational use—I love that term, recreational use—it seems that it wasn't just legalized; it seems it was made mandatory."

Lebowitz continued: "The streets of New York are clouds of weed! If you don't want to smoke marijuana, you have no choice. Basically, every single person. Except me."

Lebowitz also endearingly admitted that she does not have Netflix despite having a mini-series on the streamer titled Pretend It's a City, which arrived Jan. 8 and was directed Martin Scorsese. The seven-episode project is basically an elongated version of her sit-down with Fallon:
