George Springer’s attempt to silence booing crowd fails miserably
George Springer attempted to silence a jeering crowd by blasting a home run. It did not go as planned. Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

The Houston Astros are getting a very harsh reception everywhere they go in spring training on the heels of their cheating scandal, and it led to a somewhat comical moment on Wednesday.

Astros leadoff man George Springer got a typically chilly reception when the Astros played at the New York Mets on Wednesday. Springer definitely heard it, as he clearly tried to silence the crowd by absolutely launching one on the very first pitch he saw.

Unfortunately for Springer, it did not go well.

Springer can be a bit of a showman, even in spring training. He really wanted that big moment to silence the fans. Instead, he gave them reason to cheer a little louder than they usually would.
